Oh my Lord you have to be kidding. Can we start a petition or something?Unfortunately, if they keep the same age restrictions that were proposed, will miss the cutoff again. They need someone to get them a waiver for her.

So sorry to hear of injury for junior pair Saya Carpenter & Jon Maravalla. They had such a good run this year on the JGP making a name for themselves. Get well soon! She never left the ground. He skated around doing his normal stuff, including jumps. It was very peculiar.
The ISU has to make the ruling. They need someone with clout from our federation.Oh my Lord you have to be kidding. Can we start a petition or something?
I guess so, but I don't know the rules for juniors. Any way Sophie Joline von Felten is cruising to victory. Skylar Lautowa-Peguero might get in there for second, but we will see.So if you are a junior lady and you win your JGP, you still have to compete at Sectionals? (Sophie)
Only juniors who make the JGPF get a bye to Nationals. So if you are a junior lady and you win your JGP, you still have to compete at Sectionals? (Sophie)
excellent. copied and pasted into word doc
So, Timmy and Ellie qualify for Nationals. There are three senior pairs competing for two spots, unless Plazas & Fernandez withdraw from Nationals and then the third finisher will qualify.
Regarding the pairs & dance (TBD at next week's US Dance Final)

Exceptions have been made before. I understand one pairs team was allowed to compete on the Junior level internationally, even though he was too old. Exceptions are done on a case by case basis. Nothing wrong with that.@moonvine @Janice4th You two cannot be for real right now. Either rules apply to everyone or to nobody, not just not to the teams or skaters we like. And USFS trying to throw around their weight as a big fed would only serve to make people dislike US skaters and distrust their scores.
USFS proposed to keep the minimum age for pairs women at 16 and this proposal was rightfully declined by the ISU congress. There certainly will not (nor should there be) any exceptions going forward.
Not that it matters, because Ellie turns 17 in March and will be Senior-eligible next season. As will Olivia Flores, for that matter.

The age is not changing next season. It will still be 17.I believe the age for the woman changes to 18 next year. I think 18 is too old. Nothing wrong with the 16 year old rule.
Which team was allowed where the male was too old?Exceptions have been made before. I understand one pairs team was allowed to compete on the Junior level internationally, even though he was too old. Exceptions are done on a case by case basis. Nothing wrong with that.
Byes aren't easy to come by as juniors.Only juniors who make the JGPF get a bye to Nationals.
No, the age change was from 15 to 17 in two steps. There never was a "16-year-old rule", that was just the step in-between so skaters wouldn't lose their eligibility after having already turned Senior-eligible, and the USFS wanted to stop at this second step for only pairs women, which was resoundingly shut down by the ISU congress.I believe the age for the woman changes to 18 next year. Exceptions were not made on a case-by-case basis, it was a blanket exception (like "grandfathering in" skaters who had already turned Senior), due to the short time-line of the age-limit implementation and the small pairs field at the time. That it only ended up applying to a single pair for one season (due to splits and then later the blanket raise of the Junior age limits) does not mean there was an exception made for one pair specifically, which is what you are talking about.Exceptions have been made before. Thank you for all your excellent clarifications @Jumping_Bean. I greatly appreciate them as I don't have enough time to follow them closely enough with doing the rewatches. No, the age change was from 15 to 17 in two steps. Sorry......they (and I) have just been waiting for so long. Like, literally YEARS. It has been frustrating for me, I literally cannot imagine what it has been like for them.@moonvine @Janice4th You two cannot be for real right now. Was there ever a doubt? So, Timmy and Ellie qualify for Nationals.
