I enjoy Nikolaj's skating - passionate, expressive and usually consistent. Just by the way he is moving I think he has a nagging injury on the right foot, knee, hip or leg as he limps. Hopefully he will have time to heal up a bit after this event.

Wow, what an awesome skate! This is great program for Mikhail - he can perform it very easily, he has a resting intense face, and he does well with the choreo. He also has loads of transitions, although I would like to see him disguise his crossovers a bit more. The skating skills still aren't quite as strong as some of the other skaters here, but he's definitely made huge improvements, and even his spins are quite strong!

Amazing jumps, but also great Dune program ! I like that it only uses very little of the more recognisable tunes and cuts that we've seen in most of the other programs of the season ; it feels more fresh

Mark - are you sure that was Nikolaj's mother (Olga Romanova) sitting with him, and not his sister (Anna Memola)?

It's that long since I saw Anna that I can't remember what she looks like. But, that lady sitting there definitely looks too young to be their mother!

Whoever she is, she is definitely a relative. She looks so much like Nikolaj.

the sitspin was a bit anemic, but the rest of the skate was powerful and dramatic and the jumps were off the chart difficult

I really really like this Dune.. on a par with Olivia/Tim.. an awesome skater. I think Patrick Blackwell has similarities

Nika, could he bend his knees a bit at least? Idk, he obviously can jump, may be a nice guy, but he gives me a gloomy vibe. Doesn't spark joy.

I really wish Nika would go to another choreographer - I think he wants to be a performer, but this material is not showing him off at his best, and it doesn't help that he's really focused on getting the jumps done. The step sequence choreo is solid, but the rest of the choreography feels out-of-place, and some of the elements like the ina bauer and the arabian don't work with the music.
