2024-25 German Nationals

I honestly couldn't tell from his appearance which gender Jamie was, and it didn't help that Jamie can be either a male or female name! I started watching the stream partway through his programme.

Don't worry, I can understand how that happened. I have been caught out by people called "Jamie" more than once as well. And it doesn't help when names "change" gender. For example, my Uncle's name is now more commonly used as a girl's name. And my cousin gave his first daughter the same name as our Granda.

Anyway, I enjoyed that Queen programme from Ruslan DANILIN (NRW).

He goes into 2nd in the FS, and the lead overall.

Some nice footwork from Maxim. Shame about not being able to establish the camel spin position - that will probably be costly.

Max looked like he lost confidence after the mistake. :(

Yeah, that can happen with skaters that age.

His namesake after the Warm-Up, Maxim HAGE (HES), did better.

EDIT: I say that - Maxim actually went 0.01 points behind Max KAZURKE (BER) in the FS standings! :drama:

Is it just me, or did the guy sitting with Maxim look very familiar?

Which bit of Germany is Hessen?

Right slap bang in the middle. Between the southern ends of the Rhineland and East Germany. Frankfurt is in Hessen.

Emil Eiffler - another skater with very good posture. I wonder if he has the same coach as the other Berlin skater whose posture I really liked in the spins.

I'm not sure that Flying camel spin will count for Michelangelo. Depends how strict the tech panel are.

That should be the clear winner. How old is Felix Zeng? He's ready for juniors from a technical point of view.

Emil EIFFLER, Lukas HANIKA and Max KAZURKE all belong to the same club, Sport Club Berlin. I was looking at the club's website, and they have a whole pile of coaches, so I am not sure who exactly works with who (the labels on the pictures of the classes are too small!)

But I recognised a couple of the coaches' names: Caroline Frank (née Gülke) and Romy Österreich (née Kermer).

Actually very cute (and very promising for German skating) that all three of the Advanced Novice winners are born within three months of each other and will be Jr-eligible next season 😊

(Diana and Felix also won with personal best scores, so double the congrats for them 👏)

He turned 13 in October. So, he is indeed Junior eligible next season.

Here is his ISU Bio:

Good. I hope we'll see him on the JGP next season. He is ready technically, and that sort of competition should benefit his progress in general. This competition was too easy for him and he needs to test himself against better skaters and on the international circuit. He has a lot of potential.

That could actually be said of all three of the Advanced Novice winners. Each of them was miles ahead of the rest of their respective fields:

As @Jumping_Bean said, they are all very close in age and will be Junior eligible next season. So, I too am looking forward to seeing how they get on when they move up. Because as you said, they need to be getting challenged so as to know where they are at.

Also, it is good to see that they are all from clubs in different parts of the country. That is encouraging to see too.

The rest of the day is given over to the Juniors. 29 girls, followed by 7 boys.

And they are on a new stream.

But, I am going to bail out now because I have a LOT of things to do before the Russian Championships start tomorrow morning.

Livestream for the Junior Ladies SP is now on air.

Here is the link for the archived livestream (starts at 33m 16s):

And here is the link for the live scoring:

Hope this helps

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EVERYBODY!!! :cheer:

I haven't watched the other advanced novice ones, so I cannot comment on those. :)

Ah, Julia. Landed a 3T+3T, then a fall on a 3F<< (she's been having issues with it the whole season, I don't think she landed it clean once) and a step-out on the 2A. She looks so disappointed, but she's still in second for now.

Well it's Anna's to lose now. She has a huge lead going into the free. Should be a good battle between others for the remaining podium spots.
