Skaters and coaches among victims in DC plane crash

I'm so sad. I feel like I've been punched in the gut and I'm only a fan. I can't imagine what the family and friends are feeling. What a devastating tragedy to the skating community. Greats of the past and future it seems have been lost. May they rest in peace. Prayers and condolences to all involved

Names are confirmed. 3 skaters and one coach from my rink are dead.
My deepest sympathies to you and everyone at the rink. Please take care of yourself.

And it's only a few weeks till Worlds in Boston, it is going to be so hard for the skating community holding it. There was a picture on twitter of those named so far (not bringing it here since they included Maxim as 'suspected') and there are several who are absolute infants. Praying they turn out to be safe...

Just woke up to this horrible news and still processing! My deepest condolences to all those who lost there someone close to them or someone they knew! To those still waiting for some news - be strong and do not lose hope, our thoughts and prayers are with you! Myself have not yet come to terms with all this! So strange to think of Spencer who posted here, and the happy photo from the plane!

Jon Maravilla (Jr Pairs skater) is ok too. Seems like he was supposed to be on this plane but was denied boarding for some reason, which I'm sure he's very grateful for now.
I heard on Eurosport news that he was not allowed to board with his dog, basically it was his dog that was not allowed to board and Jon refused to go without him, and chose to stay behind too. If that is true... his love for his dog seems to have saved his life.

I am devastated. My heart goes out to the skating community. Has it been confirmed that Max was not on the plane? I can't imagine a worse nightmare than to lose both your parents in such a way.
The Skating Club of Boston posted a video of Max in the Tenley E. Albright Performance Center on their stories yesterday, so he was in Boston already. His parents probably stayed back for their development camp skaters including Spencer.

I am so glad for his sake that he didn't board but I hope his family and friends are supporting him, the shock of knowing how close he came would hit hard. Does anyone know if his partner has been confirmed as safe?

Not 100% confirmed, but I heard that Saya flew home earlier, while Jon and his family stayed back as Jon's younger brother (Juan Carlos) was one of the skaters invited to attend the development camp.

He told it to Russian media (RIA) who interviewed him today. Though as I understand it he was in the airport but his plane was supposed to be a different one.
