Shoma Uno

Well in Japanese culture I learned that the role is reverse on Valentine's Day. The girl gives the guy a gift (or more than one). Maybe Marin planned something special for Shoma this year.

He did request macarons this year and she made it for the first time for him

Marin did say Shoma has yet to return her valentines to be fair the day when the man is supposed to return something is White Day (March 14) and Shoma's been always in the Worlds team since 2016 and Worlds happens a week after maybe this year?

It's small but it made me realize that Shoma was so busy skating and competing he kind of missed out on simple stuff (Christmas-related events because of Nationals, White Day because of Worlds)..

Also Shoma will participate in one of Prince Ice World's group numbers in Tokyo!

My heart It just gets me right there hearing that. That is so sweet! Oh, I love these two so much. Did she say what type of macarons she made? There are so many different kinds. Oh, I’m sure he’ll think of something. Well now he can catch up on what he has missed. He can go anywhere and do anything that he couldn’t before during those times. He might be in for a surprise. I can picture him and Marin going to a Christmas market. I don’t know if Japan has big outdoors ones like in other countries such as Germany. I heard Germany has a huge one that’s really beautiful. If they wanted to take a vacation somewhere outside of the country for themselves during that time.

I hope he wasn’t pressured to go on Twitter. I didn’t think he liked social media that much. Yes, he has YouTube and Instagram but he didn’t seem like he would get an account on other social media platforms used today. Think he’ll be ok?

I think he's using it because most of Smash Bros community are on Twitter, and he's making Smash Bros videos now. Not sure how he's using it but so far it's still very much gaming content I wouldn't worry that much, he seems to be doing well and gamers are reminded once again that Shoma is pretty serious and surprisingly good at Smash Bros lol.

Well, before I fly out to Japan, I'm finally going to give my final report from my previous Japan trip. Two years late is better than never, right?

Anyway, after eating that fancy parfait at the Nagoya Tokyu hotel, I headed over to Nagoya's Osu district and had a light dinner at a maid café-- curry with the rice shaped into a bunny head! This maid cafe was so small that it had only counter seating.

Afterwards, I found a branch of the Taito Station arcade chain. There were floors filled with various kinds of arcade games! After taking a long time to decide what to play, I eventually settled on some games. One of the games was a rhythm game where the controller was shaped like a piano keyboard and you had to play notes on the keyboard to match the notes on the screen. I chose Chopin's Ballade #1 to start out with...but I just wasn't feeling it. Then I noticed Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata...and it just felt right to play that particular piece of music at that time. Maybe not super-relevant to Shoma, but being able to play video games in his hometown featuring a piece of music he skated to...was priceless to me.

I have made it to Nagoya, everyone! I had to book a bus tour for Saturday, find my hotel, and change my hotel reservations a little, so that kind of took up my day. I don't think I have the energy to go all the way out to Yakiniku Rion this evening...
