He really did!

So happy for Miisha - great skate, great and deserved score; It sets him up as a world medal contender. Dito for Cha who showed despite maybe some illl strategy by Korea making him compette last week he got silver and is a world contender for a medal. I know are a lot happy fo Jimmy. Sure the japanese men kind of fell apart and didn't do so great - not their first strong totally though. Decent skates from Camden and Tomoki. The Canadian men were okay. Yes Matthew with no pressure did well for a first time. Roman was perffunctory adequatte. He punched his ticket to worlds. No way can Skate Canada send Aleksa. Our Mexican star did awwesome to come back in the free. Podium seemed happy.

I had a great time watching the men, who obviously were menning, but not in a bad way. Both the second and the last group were really exciting to watch, with some nice ones in the third group too. Matthew Newman was a revelation in the SP, but needs some more experience to keep that up in the FS. The guy from Chinese Taipei got me really excited, I've never seen a guy from that country do so well. I liked his reaction in the KnC too, his PB rose 30 points or something. Donovan had a pretty good skate (but he did better last week), but he is always watchable. I was happy for Camden and Tomoki who both did a lot better than in the SP. Both Korean men did well, one to get a well-deserved silver medal, the other showed winning the Youth Olympics is not the only thing he can do. Wonderful skate. I felt a bit sorry for Kazuki who did quite well. In fact the Japanese overall quite good, just nog good enough this time round. Jimmy, what shall I say, I am so pleased for him to finally medal, and his reaction in the KnC when he realised that was pretty priceless. Mikhail had his best skate ever, and got the gold. I love Ivan Righini at the boarding. Happy for Mikhail too.

I just caught up, what a feel good podium

Misha getting gold in the 10th anniversary of first ever Kazakh gold by the late Denis Ten
Jun getting silver in front of home crowd
Jimmy getting bronze for his late SCoB teammates

And it's the first time since 2016 that there's no Japanese men on the podium! Despite this, I think all 3 Japanese guys did well here. This is Tacchan's first ever ISU Championship I believe, so 5th is not bad at all. Hope it gives him more confidence going to Worlds

I saw that Shaidorov won, but i had no idea he won it with an epic skate (the score is good, but now that good if you know what i mean)! And on the 10th anniversary of Kazakh's first ever 4cc win! Well done, Shaidorov and team! I am going to take a day or two before worrying he peaked too early.

Loved Cha's performance as well, and hope that one day i will see him live when he skates as good.

Good on Ma to hold it together, and both him and Shaidorov gave unforgettable performance in K&C too.

Free skate certainly looked stronger than the short. I hope JSF is okay with the men finishing just off the podium.

I was surprised when she started talking. She has such a grown-up voice for a girl of just 19 years old. If I had missed the introduction (like I did with Bradie's interview), I would have thought it was somebody in their thirties.

But, the conversation gave away her real age. She came across as a really lovely young girl.

Thrilled for Jimmy Ma. Great program and I was so touched by his reaction in the K&C.

I've been following Matthew Newnham for a few years and am happy to see him competing here. This was a good experience for him and I hope to see more of him next season.

Let me gently remind us all that though Jimmy is a little older than some competitors, his career is not over yet. He has seemed to be on an upward trajectory since moving to the SCOB, and has shown that he is not merely an entertaining novelty act. Jimmy may well manage to medal at Nationals or a Grand Prix before he hangs up his skates!

Kevin Reynolds never won nationals but won 4CC It's just trivia, and actually, to me personally, it is positive in more than one way. It shows the depth of national competition and it shows the carpe diem moment of the skater. Quite a lot of Canadians managed to win international medals before winning national medals (SMD, KMS)... Some never won Natonal medals despite winning international ones (Elladj)... we celebrate them.

Please do it for me as well. I don't have staying up into the wee hours in me any more. But I did do it to fly from Kelowna to Dallas (via Toronto, no less) for Skate America, so there's that.

I woke up in the middle of the night and checked the standings.

I'm getting more than a little tired of this, can people kindly remember - if they don't already know which they should - that different accents affect the way names are pronouced and heard? Trust me, as someone not from one of the larger. and more insular "our way is the only way" countries... you and your commentators sound just as bad sometimes to a lot of people worldwide.
