I think sending Mone here was a huge miscalculation for Hamada.

Ami will get the team event, likely the short now.

Plus she was beaten by someone not on the Olympic squad she is firmly Japan #3 and that’s going to hurt her.

I would actually give Ami the free: 140+ with a 3A fall is a pretty high floor.

as much as i apreciate both Mone and Ami as skaters, i love n underdog snatching a well deserved medal

I agree with you - but some cynical part of me wondered if the non-Japanese judges want Yuna to beat Ami and Mone so much as it will make the 2 Olympians look less convincing.....

Mone beat Mone basically here. And if Ami had landed the 3A she would have won overall which is fair enough.

Yuna really was the strongest skaters over both segments (and was already disadvantaged through early group PCS in the SP).
