2025 World Junior Championships Men's FS

I really wish Ilia hadn't started this tennis pro trend (on ice) of falling on the ground.
I think we can credit the move to Shoma and his classic starfish; he was the original dramatic splatter after a good skate and inspired Rio and Yuma to do the same after their skates at Japanese Nationals this year. Personally, I don't mind it at all - a lot of times, skaters are exhausted after a free program and need a second for their legs to recover, and as long as they get off the ice in a reasonable time, it doesn't hurt anyone.

oh, so close for Minkyu... he is so, so good, he has so much quality, and he might have taken the title here if it weren't for the axel fall. Nevertheless, he didn't let the performance or jump quality drop after the mistake, and that triple Lutz in the second half was *chef's kiss*

I found this whole last flight kind of underwhelming—Choi was my favorite. But that doesn’t take away from the best part of this whole competition—Arlet Levandi, looking at you, kid!

Okay, I know I said I liked both Rio and Minkyu earlier...but I really wanted Rio to win deep inside my heart. So glad to see that fierce little dragon hang in there and get that win! Minkyu and Adam are deserving medalists as well! Minkyu was so expressive and Adam was so clean! :jumping:

When Ted mentioned numerous times that Rio was skating to the music his father skated to, I thought it was going to be something moving and beautiful. I wasn’t expecting Pirates of the Caribbean

But, different strokes and all that

Rio created a very moving/beautiful moment at his first second JGP this season to honor his father/coach. ❤️
Ted recounted this story just after Rio's victory today.
After winning the JGP, Rio surprised his father by changing into his father's Pirates costume for the medal ceremony.
Maybe you "had to be there," but I was incredibly touched at the time of the JGP, and it will remain a signature memory of Rio for me.
Congratulations to Rio and his otosan (father)!
