Does anyone think that Amber (like quite a few before her) may have been a bit overwhelmed by the hype? From my looking at forums and social media, she was really The Name, considerably more than Malinin, probably because of that Americans only watch women bit, and (like quite a few before her) the medal was being hung round her neck before anyone even stepped on the ice...

Absolutely. Lovely. Little bit odd at the beginning. But great. The one problem is that her jumps are quite telegraphed. However, I think she might be one of my favorites overall if she can tidy up the rotations a little bit and add a little bit more transitional content into the jumps. Lovely, lovely outing.

I don't watch for perfection, only enjoyment so I don't really care anymore about telegraphing

A bit of a nervy skate from Haein - a lot of tight jumping passes, but she fought through - I admire the grit to put the 3T on the second-half lutz, and the smile after she landed the 2A was wonderful to see. She really came alive in the second half of that program.

Fair enough. I watch for enjoyment too, just looking at little things that can move her up in the standings if she addresses them, and reducing the telegraphing could do it. I could see her being the type of skater to skate to Schindler's List and pull it off really well

Lee had some mistakes but this was good still. The choreo seq was fleshy and she had a lot of energy til the last seconds of the program.

Was very nice Haein FS, was as expected, no a total perfection but was nice her FS, enjoyed it a lot was a mix that begun slowly but along the program she got more strength and dynamism..

No, she's just always been a very very nervous competitor. This year is far better than past years.
