My post had nothing to do with transitions. Jumps are scored poorly for GOE when they lack a great running edge out.

You're going to see a 4T+3T where there is no running edge at all at the end. Zero. Running edges out of jumps matter. E

All that is quite true, but I think that it is irrelevant to the current ladies' situation. Yes, of course a well done quad is better than a quad with a wonky landing.

But a quad with 0 GOE is still more highly valued than no quad at all, and by quite a significant amount.

3A (no flowing edge, 0 GOE) = 8,00
2A (the greatest double Axel in the history of skating, +5 GOE) = 4.95

4T (0 GOE) = 9.50
3T (+5 GOE) = 6.30

Well, that's not the whole story, of course. Skaters can boost their jump base values to some extent even without ultra Cs. And if Petrosian gets PCS of 8.0 across the board and Sakamoto gets 9.0. that's 64 to 72. so...."You got yours, I got mine. Bring it!"

If running edges and GOE aren't relevant they should probably just get off the ice. That way they won't make a complete mockery of the sport.

i will say after watching petrosyan's programs over the years to refresh myself on her - they need her programs to be absolutely out of this world to make any sort of case for her pcs scores (unless the judges decide to inflate her marks because she can rotate fast in the air as they do with others). the fact that her most entertaining program imo is the michael jackson short tells me, as many others feel, she's a little bland and unoriginal. at least with zagitova we had the backloading to show her athleticism and the tutus to pretend she was artistic, lipnitskaya had the amazing flexibility and memorable programs to go with it (no danny g choreo detected there), and even shcherbakova had a little more gusto and bravado in her skating, along with that "iron will" that was impressive to watch when she competed.

i mean, come ON eteri. the long for petrosyan this past season was better, but the one from 2022-23?!?! horrendous!! if i were an olympic judge and was watching a skater with a blank expression skate to what sounds like a lawn mower going across grass mid program, those components would NOT be generous.

I find that a skater needs at least two of these things to get there

Tech content, good presentation, reputation points usually from consistency.

In this case, she may only have one thing... so for me, it's not an automatic win.

I am sure they will package her with something like MJ and/or her older program with Armenian music that showed her to her advantage. That's said, I will not be dissapointed if Gorbacheva ends up skating in China. She has a certain dramatic quality that was evident from the start. And better glide.
