2025 CS Cranberry Cup Senior Men Free Skate

Just stopping in to say that whoever picks Sanchez’ music consistently does him a disservice. Dune, here, is so last season, a year too late. His short wasn’t any better, and last season’s choices also didn’t flatter this charming young lad.
Let’s do better, please
I wouldn't worry. Sanchez will shine through even the worst cut of the worst Celine Dion songs. He's still young, but I have high hopes for him.

Very surprising results! I feel bad for Jimmy and Jacob, but it's still very early. I didn't expect the Canadian men (or Selevko) to do so well, but the results seem fair. I haven't seen all of the programs yet.

Well... Canadian men are back.. of course... none of the top skaters were here.. BUT... two medals in seniors (gold and bronze) two medals in juniors (silver and bronze) and the gold in the domestic event for John Kim.

If anyone had predicted that well... good for you. Sometimes, having only one spot for the Olympics and having a couple men who are perhaps in their last year of a long career (considering they were already competing in junior etc) is exactly the motivation needed to get there.

Roman should have stayed with Clair de lune all way through, but the second part isn't something I would dislike too much... so I forgive the mix and match here.

I think, if he nails it, Selevko can medal at the Olympics with this program.
so who wouldn't medal if you put Selevko on the podium ?

I mean, don't we agree that Malinin and Kagiyama are faves... and then, there are so many others like a perhaps healthy Adam/Kévin, Cha, other Japanese men, Misha... can Selevko beat enough of these guys ?

Probably not, but anything is possible, we all know that. Ice is slippery...

The real battle may end being with Maxim...
I am going to be brutally honest here. I really think that battle as of right now is between Jacob, Jimmy, and Lucas. I have a lot of empathy for Maxim for his loss but facts are facts here and if the USFS goes by their own criteria here where body of work is a major component and Maxiim is well behind the other 3 at this point. He needed to find any way to build that body of work and Cranberry Cup would have been good place to start doing that and since this was at his home rink as well he should have been there to at least try. If he does not go to Lombardia to compete I think that will be the kiss of death because he can not wait until GP France to compete because he needs to try to get a second GP on his own because I think the sole Skater America spot is going long gone by that point and I think if another US man besides Ilia one/or Jason makes the GPF then that skate will get it. If we get to Nationals with no clear candidate for the 3rd spot then maybe but I would not count on it because all 3 of those men know what at stake here I think one of them is going to manage to do it.

Jacob's elements weren't quite on today, that's undeniable.

But, and I realize I might be in the minority in thinking this; Rohene Ward's choreography looks pretty good on him. And it looks like it's difficult.

I'm not writing him off for the season just yet.

Good point about Max and the BOW. Doesn't Lucas have a similar problem? What about Torgy?

The last time I had this much anxiety was when Paul Wylie tried to make the team. There was a shot of Nancy Kerrigan in the crowd after he skated and I looked like that at home.

I don't know about this body of work argument. I don't like the body of work concept for choosing teams anyway, but this sounds especially weak.

Does your body of work count if your results have been mediocre? "Gosh, I know Max finished third at Nationals, but let's not forget Jimmy's seventh place finish at Cranberry Cup in August!" And, sure, Jimmy won the bronze medal at 4CC, and I was happy about it for him. But that was a depleted field, and we all know it.

That's NOT meant to throw shade at Jimmy, it's to throw shade at these ridiculous criteria. Line 'em up at Nationals. Same ice. Same judges. Same pressure. Same event. Let the best man win.

Andrew Torgashev had a total score of 286.49 at 2025 Nationals, grabbing the Silver. My eyes are on him for a spot and I'd like to see him at Milan.

What body of work argument do Jacob and Lucas have on the senior level that make them favorites for the Olympic team? Jimmy is no more consistent than Maxim. That 3rd spot will have to be decided on what is delivered on the GPS and at Nationals this season and I don’t see anyone having a clear advantage at the moment. Ilia and Jason are the only two who have consistently delivered over many seasons on the senior level. Since none of the other men seem to consistently deliver technically, the difference may come down to who among them is judged best on PCS and on GOE internationally, so that when that person does deliver technically, the pieces of the puzzle will all come together.

Honest opinion on the costume. I think it looks too heavy. What do you think?

Nope.
