Zhenya has attempted both 4Lz and 4F in the SP of Channel One Cup.

Moving the combo to the 4F worked out. But the 4Lz didn't. It was just his second competition attempt of this jump. Honestly I have my doubts about his technique of this jump, but it looked pretty good in practice this time. We can only wait to see what Zhenya can build up to next season.

Short program

The Lutzes in practice

He really managed to minimise the disruption caused by this fall. And this up-and-down spin! Are there other skaters doing such an exhausting element, apart from Yuzuru Hanyu?

And beautiful Adagio.

Nice to see the Lutz. I think they want to restore this jump as he has never performed it in seniors.

Something very unexpected: a program for next season is choreographed by Daniil G.

Unexpected indeed, for geographical reasons and because Team Mishin and Team Tutberidze are not often seen together, but Daniil Gleichengauz has choreographed some really beautiful programs... when he's inspired.

Zhenya has posted a story from Richaud's camp.

Looks like we'll see one more FS choreographed by Benoît.
Richaud told media that Zhenya came to do the camp with already ready programs. SP was done by Zhenya's team and FS is by Daniil.

A journalist who attented the camp claims that the FS music is something superb.

Zhenya's SP is confirmed to be Nirvana medley. Tomorrow is his first event this season. He only has 4S and 4T planned due to injury. Hopefully everything goes well.
Into lead after the first today. It couldn't better. What's more, he was clearly working on non-jumping elements when he couldn't jump due to injury. He literally outclassed the field in this aspect.

The crowd was very loud after the combo save. I could barely hear the music until the end of the skate. Last time I heard something like that when Zhenya performed k-pop FS for the first time.

Not sure whether he has shape for the free but he has four quads planned.

That was better than I expected. Before the event I was afraid he won't even podium after injury.

The warm-up was clean except for one popped Axel. The rest was very good including the beautiful 4Lo at the end of the warm-up.

The actual skate wasn't so good. Landings were mostly chaotic (but done) and there was no much stamina for non-jumping elements or program. As a result, Zhenya lost to Mark by a small margin. Overall, not bad shape for November, considering the injury. Zhenya told media that he started doing quads two week ago.

In a week, there will be another stage with an equally strong field. 🫠

Zhenya told media that the injury happened due to a fluke fall on a sliding in the short program.

He didn't care about the place and just wanted to skate without big mistakes.
