2025 JGP Baku Women's Short Program

Is this rink smaller than usual? I feel like so many skaters today have come very close to crashing into the boards.

(I am worried for the French Dancers now...)

So I very much like this program, Kaitlyn Weaver choreo is good with Japanese skaters it seems, and I was less sad about the -3T blocked by the boards and more so about the slight misses of the beat with the elements/choreo, e.g. the loop was supposed to be on the 'bam', but still extremely strong

Edit: IIRC it's Kaitlyn Weaver for the SP and Muramoto Kana for the FS but if I'm wrong please correct me

Mayuko the peacock remains a delight to watch. Looks at this angle that she nearly jumps into the boards on her 3T. 2A with falling leaf exit. I have just noticed that in her flying sit spin her arms make the peacock's head and neck and its train. Kana Muramoto's choreography is wonderfully unique. Head back twizzles and the Yametova slide are the step sequence highlights. I really like the side position in her camel spin as well.

I love this peacock program for Mayuko, I think it may be my favourite of all junior girls field this season. The back split slide at the end of step sequence is a brilliant highlight.
However, her jumps were off axis and much smaller that the ones she did in the warm up, maybe nerves got her.
Hopefully she'll come back in the free.

TES down by 6 points? Ouch...
I'm less surprised by Mayuko's TES drop, just because her 3T and 3Lo were visibly missing rotation, but other TES drops were confusing for me too (Alica Lengyelova's TES dropped 4 or so points, I think, and her jumps didn't look bad enough for that).

Stream freezes again for Lia, argh. That was a good camel spin, and she makes the jump exit look comfortable; great flexibility in her I-spin as well. Spread eagle and a couple of turns before the 3Lo. Nice 2A. I like the loop turn to complete stop on the ice as she raises her arm above her head in her step sequence.

I believe Kana did SP and Kaitlyn did her FS but I;m not 100% sure either

Wang Yihan is a strong jumper (although today she had to fight for some of the landings) and overall solid but I don't see much performance from her yet, also I personally do not like the color combination of teal and pink

Yihan has a very slinky opening to her programme. Gets the opening 3Lz-3T done comfortably. I do like that Ina Bauer after her 2A. Gosh, she spins so fast in that flying sit spin, and again in her ch combo spin and final layback spin. Love how she engages the audience with her eyes in the step sequence. That was a great skate from her!

I quite like this program for Yihan, she's still has a lot of work on her presentation but I can see she's trying. Acutally her body is moving well to music is the emotions that not yet follow, she's more like smiling cause she was told to rather than feeling the vibe but that's ok at this point. Still, I think it's a good vehicle for her. Combo was a bit shaky.

Looked it up, I was the confused one. Maybe I felt that some elements of the choreo to be similar to Kushida Ikura's The Little Prince (which was definitely Weaver choreo), maybe it was Weaver being listed first on Oka Mayuko's ISU bio, whatever my reason was I am embarrassed
