2025 GP Finlandia Trophy Women's Free Skate

Summary after rewatching:

Mone:I mean we have to have agree she is best skater on the field this year. Its just amazing how she improve small things to get better and better. No weak point as i said it yesterday. Its just pure quality with beautiful choreo which she execute correctly.
Impossible to say something negative about her.

Amber:Why so shaky before skate Amber? Where is that confidence? There will 100x times more pressure in Olympics.Anyway it was good skate.
That Lutz this season is making a lot of problems and even 3A may not cover the lose points. Also spins and Stsq will be always worse than TOP Japanese skaters so she really needs maybe that 2x 3A in free or finally fins that Lutz.
Nevertheless she is in good form so improvements should come easily.

Rino: 😍😭 Beautiful piece of art.Still think she could accent jumps better on music and also rotate them better, but it's still pleasure to see her on ice.She is kinda Yuna Aoki case, when we need to believe there is a world where they are consistent technically and they are TOP skaters.
Always a pleasure to watch her skating.
And we have a podium 🥰🥰,but bronze doesnt suit such a Princessa 😂

Rion: That's a painful week for her.Knowing her form and chances for GPF it's a disaster. Most likely she is not in Olympics team as well so getting at least GPF would be nice reward for hard work, but not with skates like this 😕
Kinda sad for her, especially because of her amazing short program.

Madeline:Two solid skates in a week from her? Of course can't happen. We will be living in another planet before this happens 🤣.As expected such a low level skate compared to what she show in free in different GP.

Braddie:UR,UR,UR and skating in slow motion.Music and her skating were different things.Strange that choreographer is saying it's energetic music and we got skating in 0,5 yt tempo 🤔

Quick summary entire week:
Except top two and the help of Rino really miserable competition.
Seeing judges also giving more presentation points to Braddie than Rino is really opening pocket with a knife in my jeans.

Nevertheless we are going for a big GPF so see you there. 🫰

Now when have a little break, I tell you shortly sbout Selma's nusc. Lauri Porra's version is not original but it is good imo. The original is from 70's by Lasse Mårtenson. It is from famous Finnish drama serie from which was made a movie recently.

Amber's skate showed why the triple Axel is necessary for her but not sufficient. She gave back too much on the two flips and on skating skills, compared to Mone.
She needs 2x 3A most likely, because for now she is missing clean Lutz and she will always lose points on spins and stsq compared to Mone. Also her 3A today wasn't her best

This is really not good for Amber. It looks like she has almost zero chances for Olympic podium. She absolutely needs to plan another 3A in the FS.
Disagree. She popped a triple jump here. She got 2.10 points for that. She probably would won if not for that. Amber is a threat for gold, not just the podium at the Olympics. Let's see how she does at the Final before writing her off.

Honestly, I think Mone is seriously underscored in PCS. She should be getting more 9s. Yes, she's that good!!!!
Her skating skills are superb, her programs are superb, her interpretation is great and moving, and she reached a consistency level that makes her the only woman to go with the max set of points to GPF. This should be better rewarded! No backstage politicking to keep her below Kaori should matter at this point.

I'm very, very sad for Rion Sumiyoshi, seriously. The fall in her short program made her lose her confidence. She was probably thinking too much about making the GPF, because it's not normal to lose that many points after doing so well this season. She's a nervy skater who performs amazingly when there are no expectations on her, but struggles when the pressure comes. I love her programs the most this season, along with Rino and Hana. I hope she can do well at Nationals and compete in the second half of the season.

Rino was flawless, but damn, the judges are underscoring her again in both programs. Yes, some jumps have rotation issues, but her skating skills and presentation are to die for, and we don’t see her being rewarded for that, which drives me insane. Still, I’m very happy she ended with a medal, and I hope we can see her in the second half of the season as well.

At this point, I think we may see Kaori, Mone, and either Rinka or Ami as the Japanese team for the Olympics, based on consistency and mental strength.

I'm thinking they will start to score her better after Kaori retires as the consistent skater without ultra c elements, I don't think she is underscoring in PCS thou but her technical calls are very strict compared to other skaters

I finished watching the replay of women's free skate.
Wow. Fantastic skate and competition all.
Congratulations 🎊 medalist.

All did well.
Mone nice
Amber great despite error
Rino nice skate to be on Podium

All women skated fierce

U.s. and Japan nationals will be brutal.
Alot of skaters can upset favorites for podium.

✨🤩🌟

I just finished watching and my baby Rino got a medal 🥹:jumping::excited: But Rino please fix up your spin & step levels, you're definitely capable of all level 4s which will help you lots!

I know she won't go to the Olys, but 4CC and/or Worlds please

Mone is super consistent but I still don't like this program, it feels bland other than the chsq. Still a well deserved win

Amber puts up a great fight, but forget the popped lutz, she actually missed a combo... Since loop is her best jump, maybe she can tack in +2Lo somewhere other than +2T to get a bit more points? But perhaps she deliberately didn't do a 3rd combo here since she knows she probably still not gonna win and she doesn't need to for GPF. I hope she can put in 3 combos when it matters at Olys & Worlds 🤞

Hey lets not be too hard on Amber - remember she is skating here with a really back sinus infection and those can be really draining. All in all - I am okay with her skate as it is right now. If things still look like this at the GPR - then I'll start to sweat.

So sorry for Rino - she is one of my favorites and things just were not working today.
Good for Maddie to keep herself in the running. I still have to watch the rest, but it still looks like a nice event.

The 'q' calls for Chiba here really should not have been given. She has correct technique on her 3Toe and doesn't drag around on the ice during the takeoff, visibly taking the jump UP and doing proper rotation in the air. She landed more than 1/4 past the takeoff point, but of course they saw some turn on the landing and called it. So frustrating. A TURN ON THE LANDING DOES NOT MEAN A JUMP WAS 1/4 SHORT. She landed very slightly on the inside edge and that caused a harder turn on the landing instead of a perfect outflow, but it was still fine. The 3Loop was a bit small but also okay. These are not jumps that should get negative GOE.

Going through all the performances, these calls are just disrespectful and unprofessional. Trying to call that Lutz from Rino Matsuike?? 7 q's for Tennell is crazy work. Her 3Toe combo was < like usual and the second Lutz was 'q', that's it. They are not looking at the actual takeoffs and landings.

That is what I been talking about in all grand prix events

I guess you meant Rion and not Rino? It is such fate that their names are so similar yet they had night and day free skate.

Confusing names I know 😅 (and we also have Rinka, Rika, Riku, etc.....)
The R is very popular in Japan, and no wonder is the best letter 😏
