2025 GP Finlandia Trophy Men's Free Skate

Really rough outing for Jason and the 3Axel attempts. According to Mark, he is landing them in practice, so it’s a matter of getting the training and repetitions in, so he feels confident about them in competition. He’s also losing BV and GOE on other jumps due to quarter calls and lack of quality. He has about 6 weeks until Nationals; he can do it.

Kagiyama opens with his trademark speed and gorgeous knee bend; the basic skating and musical interpretation is ethereal. It unfortunately breaks the spell when he falls on a jump and there was a domino effect at this event today. He really is in danger of handing his Japanese crown to Sato, who continues to improve with each event and is really making a habit of skating clean in both program this season.

Yuma working hard to not make 300 points this season and give a 2nd place to Sato.Appreciate from him 😂
Mens are such a dissappoitment.

Oh, Yuma I love your programs, love your music, please stop putting pressure on yourself and skate. Just skate.

I'll say this every time he skates it, I far prefer this soulful version of Say Something to the original, but it might not just be the best music for Jason's etherial skating. Jumps, what are they?

Battle of the Canadian men. Sigh. Roman was beautiful and Gogo was a jump drill. Soooo boring for me, but even I can tell who's ahead.:cry2: Props to Gogo for coming back, now get some choreo, learn it, act like you're listening to the music, and it will be much better. :)

I always think Adam's PCS is too generous for what he does.

But, that is the power of high TES and speed.

I broke the post apart for an important reason: Speed is part of PCS. Specifically, Skating Skills (edge control, speed across the ice, power, and the use of turns and change of direction). Slow speed will ding a skater's PCS, as well it should. Adam SHF's "power of speed" is part of his skating skills which contributes to his PCS to begin with. Similar comments have been said of Sakamoto: "Well she just skates fast, that's all." That's all? It's a valuable skill and if were easy, every skater would have the skill but they don't.

Really, my post was made to correct a slew of misleading posts over the years that have the unfortunate result of people being unable to understand why skaters receive the scores they do. Skating skills are part of PCS and it's important for people to understand what they actually are since they contribute to a skater's overall score, as well as make this sport so enjoyable to watch.

Hmm, those 4S, especially the second one looked around??
I thought so too. Ironically though, on replay the second one was more under the first... under rotations killed his scores here, probably more so in the short though. He really needs to get that last lazy quarter around. His triple Lutz is almost always short, and I feel like it's almost a safety, lack of confidence thing - like, I know you can rotate these jumps roman!

I agree about the speed, but I have started to change my mind on Adam and his PCS scores. I used to be more impressed because he is very much an artiste- he certainly has a certain je ne sais quoi, maybe part of that French mystique. But while I appreciate that aspect, and the tremendous elevation he gets on his jumps, they really do not deserve the high g o e they get, as he muscles them incredibly, has terrible posture and take off and landing, with hunched shoulders and very rarely much run of edge or turn out on The Landings. I like the kind of edginess he has, but seeing him compared to yuma, man, it's very very noticeable that his programs and general skating lacks a ton of polish. I still enjoy his programs and appreciate that he's pushing the boundaries
