Where would you have him higher? He got 8.29 for PR. I don't know if he should be getting high 8s.

You know that's a good point. I often think he should get higher PCS because he has such great Edge work, and of course he is an expressive, artistic skater. I think where his programs full short, is that well he does the simple things very well, he doesn't have nearly as much complexity in the choreography. For example, while he is light years ahead of Stephen in terms of skating skills and presentation, Stevens choreography is so much more complicated. The transitional content is Miles Ahead of roman, especially with Stevens program this year - while it's nowhere near my favorite program and I definitely prefer Roman overall, I can't deny the fact that Romans program, while smooth and beautiful, doesn't have particularly complicated transition or steps throughout and has a lot of two foot skating. I would definitely rather watch him any day, but I understand that there's room to fill in the gaps in his program with just a little bit more complexity

Agreed. It's where he stands out is his short programs. The sinner Man one in particular, was outstanding. He just doesn't have as much transitional content and complexity in his free skate, particularly this one. Yes there's passion, expression, and interesting choreography here and there - but there's also a ton of two foot skating, especially going into his axles where there's a huge setup and tons of telegraphing/stalking the jump. I agree with Mark though, that he should be getting way more for his spins. Roman as well, but Jason in particular should be making up more Tech on the spins because they're really so much better

What a pity. He mistimed the quad, tried to improvise and fell in the end. Still a marvelous skate.

Funny, how he has neither the posture or the style for such big music, but he makes it believable and entertaining anyways.

Umm ... we're talking about Yuma here? What's wrong with his posture? I don't think he sold the program as well as he did previously - he didn't have that feeling of lightness and joy at the beginning that he has other times - looked a bit scared. But I think this program is stunning

Love this program as well - but I actually love the fact that it sounds fresh with the choir recording which apparently was done specifically for him. I understand why he has downgraded his Tech a bit, but if he wants to have any chance of catching up to Ilia he needs to have the quadflip and two each of his other quads. Maybe he is just acknowledged that he's not going to be able to catch him, so he's satisfied with this layout, and he was definitely struggling with the tech earlier in the season.. I just really want him to win in italy..

Great crown for Steven too @NoNameFace. It matches his costume perfectly.

It does match... but it is the worst costume of any of the men this year. It looks like a woman's blouse from the 19 80s. I hate the way the bottom of the sleeve around the armpit is so low - it looks like it's supposed to be some wings or something. And the forest green does not belong. It needs to look classier- I don't know exactly what, but maybe something that is a better cut, classy your lines, hell, even some sequence on a classic black Canadian men's costume would be fine. But I can't take him seriously with this look...

Waaait Andreas already cut himself during the warm up???? I thought it happen when he went on the ice after Valters skate. So he already had been bleeding for at least 10 minutes when he went on and skated?

I think it happened during the warm up - he fell close to the barrier and there was a trail of blood leading from there to the exit point

A little bit about Andreas' hand injury now when I am home. It looked he will WD first. While they were replaying Valtter's program, Andreas went to talk to judges and then stepped off the ice. There were also medical people with him and the coach and I think they decided together to give him permission to skate. Some of you probably already have seen fotos at is has been shared from his ig stories, he has got some stitches to his finger. It was one finger which was hurt. So he skated without any warm-up between his and Valtter's skate.

I agree about the speed, but I have started to change my mind on Adam and his PCS scores.

My opinion of who has the best skill and control on the ice hasn't changed. Male or female. The reason it hasn't changed is once skills are acquired, they don't suddenly vanish into thin air. I don't really care which skater is viewed as an "artiste" or which skater is on the cover of a fashion magazine, but I do care if someone misunderstands PCS or even something as simple as inside and outside edges. A lack of understanding screws up the sport. Right now, as I type this, there are a bunch of crazy people arguing online over whether a Russian skater's quad was q or <. This should not be happening. But it is.

Oh Steven is one of the drabbest dressers on the current circuit. I like him and am so happy that after all his problems he seems to be on the upswing, but his costumes would be positively soporific except for the way they move so badly (and at least the free one is better than that overblown boy doll suit in the short. It isn't WTF material, no but I really don't like it)

For the sake of my mental well-being from now on I am going to assume both Adam and Yuma are just deliberately trying really really hard to not be perceived as olympic hopes by their respective nations (so they can skate perfectly clean at the olympic games without added pressure of expectations and then be like "A-ha! You all thought I couldn't skate anymore! SURPRISE! I tricked you!", duh).
I will NOT be taking any arguments agains my headcanon, thank you very much.

Right. I guess that's what I meant is that as I've tried to look with a more critical and unbiased eye, I realized that there are weaknesses where I did not notice as much before. It's not so much that I think his skating skills change, just that perhaps I was ignoring things in the past due to, for example, appreciating his approach to choreography and presentation or whatever.

I agree 100%. I suppose it's possible that the reason I hate the suit in the short program is because fashion standards have changed in the last year or so towards a more baggy, early 1990s style, and I'm still stuck on the more tailored, slim cut of a few years ago. But to me it looks like they just pulled a suit off the rack that was kind of the right size, and went with it. Unfortunately, in my eyes, it makes him look exactly how I did when I was a tall gangly 15 year old wearing an ill-fitting polyester gray suit at my brother's wedding in 1994 lol. I also had longish blonde hair as well, so the similarities are uncanny LOL. But to me it just really highlights a mismatched amateurish look, and does not make me think of an Olympic level skater. I know I know, skating is more than Aesthetics and costuming, but it is one part, and I think he does himself a disservice if he and his team are not trying to kick as many of the boxes as possible
