2025-26 Japanese Nationals: Info & Pre-game Chat

Good for you! I get the flu shot every year and have not had flu in decades. I got the shingles shots (the new one works better than the old) cause I am scared to death of it. I have had norovirus 4 times so I carry a hand sanitizer that kills it..pretty hard to find. But its on ebay and amazon. And since I am an aircraft mechanic and know how an airliner ventilation/ heating and airconditioning works (not) I have medical grade N95 masks for flying. Send me a quick update about the family things....I worry about you....someday you have to show me the Southern Cross!

Wed AM. Our little power company has 12,000 outages affecting 33,000 people ... one third of their customers...in Spokane county. Dont know about the big power company....so far we have power for nats but the wind is roaring outside. No trees down on our property yet. edit: we set the all time wind speed record for spokane last night... 75 mph. cat one hurricane is 74 mph.

With the 2026 Milano Olympic Games just around the corner, Japan continues to shine bright as one of the world’s leading nations in figure skating. With one of the deepest pools of talent in the world, the Japanese Skating Federation now faces challenging choices for its Olympic team, set to officially be announced at the end of this week.

To spare fans a nervous breakdown, we’ve put together a clear guide summarizing how the federation will pick its team for the Olympics across all four disciplines, along with the skaters to keep an eye on at this week’s National Championships!

I also want to give a shoutout to Miyabi Oba - she has qualified for her 14th Japanese Nationals and at 30 years old, I'm pretty sure she's the oldest women single competitor at Nationals ever.

I remember reading an article about Miyabi beating Fumie Suguri's record (Fumie competed in her final Nationals at 29 years old). But I can't find that article now - if anyone can link it here that will be great 😊

I'll see if I can watch some live tonight, having an unexpectedly busy week but the early groups of men and women are always filled with so many interesting programs and skaters I don't get to see otherwise.
