2026 U.S. Nationals Gala Making The Team

My understanding is that for International competitions they go strictly by rank. So the lowest ranked skates first and the top ranked team skates last. They could have changed it again though.
US Nationals aren’t an ISU event so they can do what they want to.
Keep worlds spots?

If Jason comes to the realization in the coming weeks that he is unable to compete at the standard that he and USFSA expects from him on the World stage, then he will give up that Worlds spot. The 1st alternate (Maxim) definitely needs to be ready in the event that happens.

yes, I always play "Ukrainian Carol" on the piano at Christmastime. It's so lovely and not like other carols.

I think it's like that Russian proverb that Misha quoted in an article a week or so ago. When all else is gone... logic, effort, etc. ... we have to hang onto hope. It wasn't logical for part of me and you to have hope. But that's what hope is.Honestly there's a part of me that thought a citizenship bill could magically be rushed through Congress...
We're all there with you. It's priorities. Certain times of the years we alter the priorities. I'm in the midst of Olympic Skating combined with BTS tickets lineage. You have no idea how competitive this is - something akin to your favorite people in Olympic caliber skating to BTS tickets in the front row of whatever city you're closest to or....any place in your hemisphere. This is serious business and you're clueless amongst millions all trying to access the exact parameters that you are.
I totally understand. Currently it is this week where we get the "opportunity" to buy the new album but also the locations of the concerts will be revealed and we will become flat out crazy, willing to mortgage our homes. I hate competing with people who love the same things I do. Speaking of.....Yuzuru Hanyu.... willing to do whatever to see him in Japan. I feel like we all own him an apology. He accepted what was but I didn't.

If ZK win 4CC, they will earn 840 points but they will drop 428 points. It would leave them in 6th place at best I believe.

Jason gets a last hurrah and it’s likelier that the U.S. maintains 3 spots.
I get Naumov over Brown for Olympics when Naumov handily beat Brown and the Olympics already has a medal for the U.S. men likely gold. For worlds, to maintain spots, it makes sense.

To make sense we'd have to believe that Jason will rectify whatever is going on with him, and will also magically land both triple axels in the short and free. I don't think that is a given, and most likely not in the realm of possibility. I hope I'm wrong though.

It’s a victory lap for him. The onus will be on Torgashev and Malinin to get the spots. But with Brown it’s a bit of insurance. It’s up to Brown to close off on a positive note and if he does manage to get it together and do so, basically everyone benefits. If he fails to, oh well, he was given the chance at least, and Torgashev has a good chance to make top 12 (or even top 10 if Malinin somehow doesn’t win).

With this is mind, they might be going to avoid falling out the second group. A lot of teams will get points at Europeans and Z/K could be in danger of being in the third group if they don't get points from 4CC. This is what Jackie Wong said anyway.

I guess. It's frankly scary for the US to rely on Torgashev for spots. (and I say this as someone who thinks he is the skater who comes closest to the quality that Jason always brought before this season. He deserves high GOE, he deserves great PCS. I am a huge fan of his skating.--maybe not of him personally) However, consistency isn't his MO. Max isn't any better in this regard and he doesn't have the same quality skating or elements. I would feel better with Tomoki at Worlds. He's been pretty consistent this season. He doesn't have the same scoring potential as Andrew but he might be a safer bet with the less than stellar season Jason is having. Basically, I guess we have to hope Jason is ready by Worlds or going to the Olympics makes Torgashev more confident in competition.

perhaps but looking at the numbers, the Euro teams will also lose their lowest points and those behind ZK are not the one who will amass massive points at Euros considering that the first 2 or 3 spots are already locked down...
It looks to me that they may want to go to pass CPOM and really be seen as USA number 2.
