Let's hope Japan sees it the same way, because I bet their narrative will be Kagiyama beat Malinin, but Sato lost them gold.

Shun's been better than Yuma most of the year in the FS. It would have taken an incredible clean skate for Yuma to beat Ilya as well. Better not blame incredible Shun. He did amazing.

Ilia should have higher pcs. What russian ladies just based on tech content had higher.

I'm so sorry for Shun. He really was robbed here. He should have won this, his PCS should have been way higher than Malinin's but well,,,, the latter's scores were a joke for several seasons right now....

USA didn’t deserve the gold.

I'm thinking there will be a spotlight on Japanese ice dance which is kind of deserved (Utamasa did well), but the overscoring of US skaters won't get anything

I've never been a huge fan of Shun's skating before, but he skated magnificently tonight - fabulous quality and beautifully expressive. I think he was underscored on PCS and GOEs. I think he put down the best skate and deserved to win.

Okay, I am very alone in this, but I always found Sato better than Kagiyama since I started watching FS in 2018 and it is just incomprehensible to me how much they put Kagiyama over him. Oh, well.

What can I say except congrats to all the medalists? I saw a lot of fine skating there--and kind of wonder about the men's final placement but I've not checked protocols yet. I did honestly think Japan had the edge over US for this Olympic's Team event..but of course I don't mind either way. The top (or st least, best-scoring) three teams did make the podium, and to me, Georgia and Canada have nothing to feel ashamed of either.

Totally. I totally agree. For some reason this seem more of a pressure cooker team event then previous olympic team events
