We love you. Be kind to yourself.
Figure skating is never kind to me though? But while love is always more pain and suffering than joy and happiness for me I will most likely be alive for the individual events, because I hate being pain-free I guess

Shun should have been ahead of Ilia and Team Japan should be the gold medalist. Ilia was overscored, he is not a good enough skater to get those GOEs and PCS, and Shun was so great today, I think he is always slightly underscored. It was really sad to see him so sad.

Totally. I totally agree. For some reason this seem more of a pressure cooker team event then previous olympic team events
I did not like the team event when it first came about. It seemed like fluff that distracted the athletes at best and derailed them at worst (Yulia). But I am a believer now, I thought this was great. Too bad scoring consistency continues to be an issue.

I've never been a huge fan of Shun's skating before, but he skated magnificently tonight - fabulous quality and beautifully expressive. I think he was underscored on PCS and GOEs. I think he put down the best skate and deserved to win.
He did get the highest PCS he has ever received internationally at a big comp( I think) honestly much closer to Ilya than I thought the judges would go. He also got excellent GOE. The issue was BV and spins. It's just hard to beat Ilya's BV.

Bloody hell! Poor darling. I hope this doesn’t cost him an individual medal. I have a very soft spot for Shun and Yuma.
I do as well for the entire Japan team. Heck even Kaori was wiping away tears, despite trying to cheer Shun up. Yuma was really really happy overall and really tried to console Shun, the sportsmanship in this team is amazing.
Japan really needs to develop a strong ice dance team. They would be unbeatable.

things I'm thinking right now...
You’re thinking of if only Shuns spins and strep sequence were better? Because they clearly were. That one spin reminded me of one I saw Bobek do in aStars on Ice show. It was so slow I could count the rotations.

Okay, I am very alone in this, but I always found Sato better than Kagiyama since I started watching FS in 2018 and it is just incomprehensible to me how much they put Kagiyama over him. Oh, well.
For me, Shun had THE men's skate here in this team event--am actually surprised he wasn't placed first in the Team Final. I hadn't any favorites--I just enjoy what I see when I see it, is all. I, too, feel that Shun and Yuma are very well-matched, and either could win over the other on a given day.

These skaters are all so hard on themselves and place more pressure and expectations on themselves than anyone else. They toil away in cold, lonely rinks for a chance to shine on the world’s largest stage and, sadly, they don’t receive the same respect, esteem and awards as the more marquee, popular sports in the world. They endure so much risk and make so many sacrifices in their lives for very little reward. The very least we as fans of this sport can do is extend grace and kindness to them. They should all take so much pride in how hard they work and in all they accomplish! 🥇 ❤️💐:hap10:💕

I would have had Shun higher on his components. This score is just slightly better than his best this year and this was the best he has done by more that that. It was an inspired skate. He did deserve about a 196/198. I would have him over Ilya on components a bit. He's no Yuma but.... But.. I still think Ilya won it. I think Shun is a little better than Yuma at this point on tech but Yuma is better on the components. This single's comp is going to be intense and any of those three could get gold.
