Sad for Kaori. Alysa skating not my cup of tea, plus im not a fan of repeat programs for consecutive seasons. I just was not moved by this at all. But hey, congrats. Kaori was so well trained for sure (and with her experience, the best prepared) but her mindset compared to liu was worlds apart. liu was not expecting anything. Kaori had a lot of baggage. Nakai could have taken it all really...well it is what it is. Amber winning would have left a better feeling considering her ultra-c....if only she had landed that triple loop in the short

Overall, so happy for Amber moving up from 13th to 5th with an incredible redemption skate, enjoyed Ami and it is really special seeing probably the next gen for Japan do so well.

Overjoyed for Alysa and her incredible story coming into this.

And my heart aches for Kaori, but she did everything she could. I wanted gold for her SO badly, but she will always be a legend. And glad to see her able to smile while waiting for the medal ceremony

There were no UR's in Ami's program.

Meanwhile, Alysa had her usual sketchy 3T executed with a huge reach-around, but no call.

The judges simply held Ami down because she's not the person who is "supposed" to win. Completely hosed her on PCS and also GOE for the 'q' calls on jumps that were totally fine.
I'm sorry but no, I am not Alysas fan but this time she was just simply the best today, not everything is a conspiracy.

Personally I feel like Alysa was overscored on PCS, she was crawling over the ice. But the performance the audience is probably the happiest to see winning.
saw the gold dress (not even going into the jump content and energy) and yeah, people will prefer seeing that as the gold medal replay on Youtube.

She definitely was. Mone 69 vs Alysa 72 is something, but not nothing.
Mone wasn't on at all tonight. She skated scared.. Usually, yes I agree she deserves higher PCS but to be honest with the UR that got ignored by the judges and her lack of performance she should be grateful she didn't go under Amber.

Alysa's win is hard to disagree with imho. And, I'm not even a particular fan.

Well. I'm an Olympic gold 🏅 too 🤣 with @Jumping_Bean we did it despite @elektra blue and her potions
After I bombed basically all other Senior predictions this season... Comeback of the year, if you ask me.

I'll be honest, I deliberately put Kaori in 2nd and Alysa in 1st because I hoped it would at least take away some of the sting if my predictions were right, but I'm not sure it did that. Hey, at least I get a gold medal, even if my favourite skater doesn't.

A single would've been enough, probs. <2 point difference, half a point for the single and 1.5p for not getting the +REP. And without missing combo/having a +REP, her PCS would've been 0.5-1p higher.
I think the judges wouldn't have given her the gold for a single, at least I wouldn't have. It would have been a close loss at a fraction of a point which arguably probably would feel worse haha (as I say through my tears as a Kaori stan)
