2026 Junior Worlds: General Info and Pregame Chat

Sorry. I don't know Lucas Vaclavik. Never seen him skate.
He is a strong junior man skater for Slovakia, so Slovakia has a junior men. He also has two siblings skating for other countries, more notably a sister who now represents US in dance and should be in JGP next season, I think. Tadeus V. skates for Czechia. Not sure if they have any more siblings... but anyway, Hagara is not the only guy in those parts.

I'm an idiot. Ever since the new format Provisional Entry Lists for Junior Worlds were put up, I have been trying to get the old format versions. But the addresses weren't working. And I only realised the reason there now - I forgot that you have to put the word "Junior" in front of the category! :palmf:

So, for those of us that prefer the old format pages, they are actually up! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Do you have the link for the old style main page Entries & Results for Junior Worlds?

It's a bit early yet for it to be put up (as I said in a previous post, I think there may be at least one more change before we get the Final Entry Lists), but if it follows the addresses used in previous seasons, it should appear here:

https://results.isu.org/results/season2526/wjc2026/

But, I wouldn't expect it to appear until Monday.

All the better if it does appear before then, though! ;)

Why isn't my boy Patrick Blackwell in there? I mean...Sanchez?
Blackwell could have been at senior nationals, instead he was put in juniors! And now he's NOT representing US at JWorlds...?

Yes, Patrick could have easily competed as a domestic senior this season. I think he really wanted that Junior title. Athletes and coaches choose their domestic path, but USFS chooses their international assignments. Patrick has been slightly hit and miss the past couple of years internationally. I think his consistency is starting to improve, but, I think USFS really wants to make sure it earns as many JGP assignments as it can for the upcoming season and Jacob's consistency has been rock-solid -- sure he has a lower tech ceiling without quads, but he rarely messes up.

Gosh, all Eu girls scores are so low, not even outside chance for top 5.
Umm, Alica is like literally 3 points off top 5, now she would need again two skates of her life to get there, but if you are looking at scores only...

3 points is a lot, and after that it's 12 points and lower, not to mention the average of the top 10 European even with Lengelova is way below the average for top 5. Worse than the last year even,

A strategy I disagree with. Patrick was comfortably the US Junior champ, and Kazanecki had only 3 points on him from the JGPs, while Patrick has a bigger scoring potential.
And I expect him to be seniorized next year...he is the future of US men skating for crying out loud!

I heard that people with Russian passports can’t enter Estonia. I don’t know if she has a Russian passport, but maybe that’s why she is no longer on the list?
Same with Barakhtina probably.

Same as Barakhtina possibly. It's not collective punishment, they say.

Wow. I learned something! (There are lots of retired Russian army officers in Estonia)
  • Non-biometric Passports: Estonia has stopped recognizing non-biometric passports issued by Russia, meaning they cannot be used to cross land, air, or sea borders.
  • Exceptions for Residents: Holders of an Estonian or EU residence permit with a non-biometric Russian passport have a transition period until September 30, 2025, to obtain a biometric passport.
  • Visa/Entry Restrictions: Since September 2022, most Russian citizens with short-stay Schengen visas are prohibited from entering Estonia via the external border for tourism, leisure, or sports.
  • Allowed Entry Categories: Entry is permitted for Russian citizens visiting close family (spouses, children, parents) who are Estonian citizens or long-term residents, those involved in international transport, and for humanitarian reasons.
  • Vehicle Restrictions: As of September 2023, vehicles with Russian registration plates are prohibited from entering Estonia.
  • A biometric passport, or e-passport, is a traditional paper passport with an embedded electronic microprocessor chip. This chip stores the holder's personal details (name, DOB), a digital photograph, and biometric data like fingerprints or iris scans, which are used to verify identity and significantly reduce forgery and identity theft.
