Just kidding about that - and on a far more serious note, who is the third "stooge" in this movie. If it is not "Shemp" or the original "Curly" I would have my doubts as to how funny this movie is

Without looking it up - I would say:
1. Sonja Henie
2.Carol Heiss
3. Michelle Kwan
4. Barbar Anne Scott (a guess, maybe it goes back befor Sonja )

ahh i m not well, you wrote Carol Heiss in the first thread but I read wrong and I thought you mean Sonja Henie is making a show of snow white, somehow i did all the chain thoughts really fast and was really scared to hell

I almost wanted to say Kati Witt but she only had four didn't she?

The only Lady before Sonja Henie I know is pioneering Madge Syers but she didn't win five World titles, did she?

I did not look it up - and thought of Kat too. But I think she won 4WC's.

Canadian Barbara Anne Scott came after WW2 and the competition from Europe was not so strong then so that is why I picked her. I actually have no idea how many WC's Barbara won.
And what about Linda Fratiane? Maybe she won 3 or 4?
Peggy won 3 or 4 also.

I can't think who else though. Witt was definitely 4. I think others might have guessed right with Carol Heiss.

I can't think who the last one would be...surely it must be pre-Henie?

I couldn't resist and looked it up and it is indeed pre-Henie:

Thanks - I never would have come up with the last one.
Carol Heiss, with 5 WC's and an OGM (did she also medal at '56 which Tenley won) came before too much TV coverage or she would be mentioned more often.
And thinking of Kat with 2 OGM's and 4 WC's - such a great career. Will Yuna or Mao match her achievements?

The 60's lost potentially it's greatest skaters and Laurence Owen in particular. She had Gold medal written all over her and staying healty she could have won 5 or more WC's and the '64 OGM.

But they did shoot the movie in the same studio as Henie's films. It had an ice skating surface under the movable floor.

Correction to my post above. This movie does not have the real Curly (Curly Howard, brother of Moe and Shemp), but rather the new Curly, Curly-Joe DiRita.

Three Stooges fans did not like this movie much. Instead of the Stooges slapstick comedy there was all that boring ice skating.

Herma Szabo not only won 5 world championships and an Olympic gold medal in singles, she also won two world championships in pairs.

Going for her 6th consecutive world singles title in 1927, it was Szabo's bad luck that it was held in Oslo that year. The judging panel comprised three Norwegian judges, one German judge, and one Austrian judge. Naturally enough the three Norwegian judges all voted for the young Norwegian girl, Sonia Henie, while the two judges from the Germanic countries voted for Szabo.

Because of the resulting scandal the ISU made a new rule that from then on, each country could have only one judge on the panel, even the host country.
