2009/2010 Programs

I don't know if this was posted already because I didn't see it...but Mirai Nagasu has announced her music(and if this was already posted I apologize)

She has announced that her short program is Pirate of the Carribean and her short program is....and I have been waiting for someone to skate to this music....NOT....and here it is...her long program is...are you ready...CARMEN!!!

Carmen is great skating music. Why would anyone skate to anything else.?

Then let all the dancers do Blue Danube.

Now I just need to hear who is skaking to Bolero and Swan Lake and I will be all set!!! All the music I am sick of will be skated to this year!!

I disagree with your assessment of Russian male skaters. Ilia Klimkin, Ilia Kulik, Alexei Yagudin, Alexei Urmanov (just to name a few) are hardly prolific arm flappers.
Ilia Klimkin was a very special skater, He was his own Man!! He always portrade a charact throughout the program and not just at the beginning and ending.

His vonRothbart was perfect and imo, the best Swan Lake I've seen.

She's amazing! Incredible talent, great skating skills! Can't believe she's only 12 year old! If she can keep up like this, she'll be Russia's best bet for an OGM at Sochi.

I'd just be a little bit wary of making proclamations like this. Russia had a number of junior skaters do very well at junior worlds after Slutskaya seemingly showign the deep field Russia had in ladies and the majority of tem never really made it on the senior circuit. This skater has yet to even compete internationally on the junior circuit (and still has another season to wait). So let's just see how she does in junior first.

Aljona Savchenko's and Robin Szolkowy's new SP is going to be "Send in the clowns". I'm sorry I can't post a link, it was mentioned in the German skating magazine "Pirouette".
They already skated it at Dreams on Ice:

Personally, I love it! (Apart from the cosumes...)

Now I just need to hear who is skaking to Bolero and Swan Lake and I will be all set!!! All the music I am sick of will be skated to this year!!

Though I've hated every program of Bolero after Torville/Dean did it, they own that piece and made it their own, I really think Davis/White or Virtue/Moir could do it justice and rival it someday.

Yu-Na Kim is keeping her choice of music strictly confidential. However she goes on to say

"I want to use music with an electrifying and intense rhythm for the short program, and popular and familiar tunes for the free program,"

Kim is reportedly happy with the selection. According to IB Sports, there may be some changes on the technical side, such as jump content, from last year. IB Sports said the new programs can be showcased in the first competition of the season, at the Troph?e Eric Bompard, the first Grand Prix Series event, from Oct. 16 to 19 in Paris.

I cannot wait to see what her music selections will be!!!!!!!!!!!

That is absolutely the formula for success, IMHO. Will it be Turandot or Swan Lake?

Ok, fine. I'll do it. Here are all the music choices I was able to find, I believe these are all confirmed and I'm sure I missed some. If the mods want to sticky it and add more choices as they become known, or information re choreography, do feel free to do so ;).

and another nocturne??LOL

And such a beautiful one. Not the most demanding to play, technically on the 'easier side' but it's such a lovely piece. Listen to Arrau or Ashkenazy playing it. Both have a wonderful, though different, take on this nocturne.

I like her SP music. But I really don't think Moonlight Sonata is a good idea. I think orchestral music suits Sasha much better. I always thought Moonlight Sonata is a really hard piece of music to skate too because there are not as many ups and downs to the music.

I am definitely looking forward to her interpretation of the music though. Sasha always had great programs and costumes while she was competing.
