2009-2010 Programs by Discipline

Hmmm, looks like Fumie really wants to go to the Olympics, it's a pity that the Japanese ladies field is so deep. Perhaps Azerbaijan would like to send a lady skater to the Olympics along with its very own Fedor Andreev?

Does anyone know what's the source of this? :
SP-Yellow River Concerto FS-Sayuri (Memoirs of Geisha)
(Sorry, I couldn't find the first poster of this information.)

PLEASE not another Geisha. I love the music but really? This is worse than Carmen.

Shen/Zhao:
FP: "Canone Inverso".

Have the changed music? They had previously been listed as having

SP -Who wants to live forever (Queen )
LP -Adagio (Albinoni )

I hope that they did not drop adagio. That is a beautiful piece of music and perfect for them. Canone Inverso is very "them" and very dramatic, but not as moving as Albinoni's Adagio

BTW, how did we learn about this?

Sasha Cohen USA
SP-"Espana Cani" by Pascual Marquina Narro

I thought she was doing a Pizzola tango?

OD: "Can-Can"
Is there are a source for this? I haven't seen any mention of P/B's music choices anywhere else. I know they were planning to do a can-can in 2007-8 and were told it didn't fit the criteria for folk dance (which it does now). It's a good choice for them, if true, but I have a hard time believing they'd want to do what DelSchoes are doing.

If confirmed, fabulous choice for Sasha.

agreed. Very Malaguena-like, which many thought was her best SP ever. I like Espana Cani better than the tango we had originally been told was her SP.

I like the choice of Espana Cani for a SP as well. I was orginally hoping that the Tango was Sasha's choice of LP but I thought her exhibition to Moonlight Sonata was beautiful so that's not a huge let down.

DelShoes should do an excellent Can-Can. Thats suits their skating style IMO.

As I've noted before, one can always trust the French skaters and the Swedish guys not to bore us with warhorses. Case in point:

Adrian Schultheiss
SP - My way, Christmas Fantasy
LP - Teardrop by Massive Attack, Insane In The Brain by Cypress hill, Smack My ***** Up by Prodigy (how all that can possibly work together, I have no idea).

The French Masters is on in a few days, hopefully we'll see some interesting programs & music choices from the skaters there. :)

Thanks for the info Buttercup. Been waiting for this. That's quite an interesting choice. But still very like Adrian. Now that both Adrian and Kristoffer have their programs ready... Let the games begin!

French Masters so early in September? Not that I'm complaining ...
I guess everything starts earlier because it's an Olympic season. This should give the skaters time to work on whatever is needed for Nebelhorn/the GPs.

I have read that Candice Didier is out with a knee injury :frown: (not sure how serious - I hope she'll be able to go to the Nebelhorn Trophy) and of course Isabelle Delobel can't skate. Everyone else should be there, which means we will finally find out what Joubert and Amodio are doing for their LPs, what Yannick's SP is, and what P/B have been up to. Also, how Pernelle Carron is doing with her new partner. I hope some of the programs will show up on Youtube.

ETA: I started a thread for the Masters over on National Events... it doesn't really belong here ;).

Jeremy Abbott's SP to "A Day in the Life" choreographed by Shae-Lynn Bourne.

*WARNING: serious gushing follows*

I'm totally in awe of their collaboration together. It far exceeded my expectation. Jeremy moves with such freedom and musicality in this program. And I seriously never would've thought Shae-Lynn had this much innovation and an understanding for the music in her just by watching her as an ice dancer. Bravo!

As it did mine. I thought it'd be unwatchable and sleep inducing. I was also afraid Yuka Sato would try to turn Jeremy into a Zen-skater (someone like Takahiko Kozuka, who is perfectly Zen and is also one of my favorites, but Jeremy is a completely different person to begin with).

Can't say Shae-Lynn's work with Jeremy is the best imaginable, but at least it's decent. I appreciate it's quality. Thank you, Ms Bourne for not robbing me of a favorite US man  I'm sure the program will only improve as the season unfolds.
