2010-2011 Programs by Discipline

Solid choice with Grieg Piano Concerto.

Actually a rare skating piece compared to Rachmanioff.

Very powerful, striking piece if skated well.

Best Grieg program to date is still Elena Liashenko back in 1999.

According to an Icenetwork article posted on FSU ;

K/A...SD: a Russian waltz ( and only waltz), FD :Beatles Abbey Road ( not a cover) featuring Oh Darlin'

:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

isn't Anna tired of "mother Russia" themed programs? I hope they rent wearing bright red cosacks coats for this one.

Respectable choices. Not to shabby at all. I'm looking forward to it. So glad it's not a swan lake or fire bird, and any kind of flying animal!

I just updated the ice dance list from the Jr Grand Prix entries' ISU bios that have been posted so far.

In spite of the media frenzy...

Despite Orser's announcement of the split, Kim was at their Toronto skating club Tuesday afternoon working on her new long program with choreographer David Wilson.

"It is a fantastic program, by far the best one I've seen," Orser said. "It is well beyond even her (Olympic program) Concerto in F. It's a complete departure."

The routine is set to a compilation of Korean music, featuring the famous folk song "Arirang", Orser revealed. Kim's short program will be choreographed by Canadian ice dancer Shae-Lynn Bourne on Labour Day weekend."

I'm sorry the two had to part. I love both of them and loved the two of them together, both on and off ice.

For those of you who don't know "Arirang" here is a link to the famous NY Philharmonic performance of it in Pyong Yang.

I love Arirang music. And the description sounds amazing! She still needs a coach especially right now.

Ariang is perfct for Yu-na. The begining of the piece reminds me of Lark Ascending. I hope we get to see her perform this one day.

Although this situation is a bit unfortunate, I'm happy about Yuna's music choice. Arirang is such a good fit for Yuna. As Tinymavy15 said, it goes back to her "Lark Ascending" days when she used to float across the ice. I hope she stays with a poweful/sassy piece for the short - I've loved the contrast between her SP and FS so far.

I also can't wait to see her dress! It would be lovely if she were to wear a modernized, figure skating version of the traditional Korean "hanbok."

Ooh, that's right, Artur Junior is coming up through the ranks. Seniorita or Doris, do you know how old he is and how he's doing? It would be so cool if he were to have some of his father's success. I always loved Artur Senior, with both partners.

Edit: I found his Wiki article. He's seventeen, and he seems to be doing very promisingly! Definitely someone to keep an eye on.

If you look at Jr. Worlds free skate where he came in fifth his PCS was 54 while the skaters above him had all 60+. Now he did place 15th in the short because he fell on a jump and then did medicore spins and steps as a result. He is a jumper. He is working on non jump elements. He can do a quad double and has no trouble with triple axels.
