I'll be interested to see what Camerlengo does with it. I like his work, and she definitely has the personality to carry it off. :)

Thanks for the news, I am a very big fan of latin dances and I hope to see them doing some fast paced rythms (smaba, cha cha) they have not done before. Fpr those who never seen them before they started competing on the senior circuit, here is the above mentioned OD, from canadian nationals, when they finished 3rd in 2006 (a rhumba mambo medley):

I hope to heck they do not use cha-cha; it doesn't come across particularly well as showing the character of the dance because of the retrograde step. I once watched a whole raft of these from 1981, and I was no fan of any of them, including T&D's to Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White, which won that segment of the competition.

And I hope it isn't one of Igor's rather academic Latin dances that he loves so much. I hope V&M have added something to the concept so it's a complete surprise, and that the actual music will not be another darn runthrough of Libertango, despite the fact that I am sure that they would do a great job with it.

Doris, I should really go through and just read your posts. You are so deeply versed in the subtleties of ice dance that your comments are like a master class. I realize when I read them that half the time I don't know what I'm looking at in terms of technique--but I'd know a lot more if I used your observations while watching YouTube videos. I mean, I know that I love people like Torvill and Dean, Klimova and Ponomarenko, and Virtue and Moir, but if anyone asks why I love them, my response would cover overall effect and musicality. The footwork and other aspects I can't analyze. I'm beginning to realize that this is like watching a Technicolor film on black-and-white TV--I miss a lot. Keep talking! Maybe some of your understanding will rub off on me.
 
Could someone help me to find music, wich is recommended for Sord Dance by ISU?

Argh! Battling Witches ? I hate when this happens.. It's not so bad when the skaters are separated by sizeable distance in the standings... Oh, well..we can't seem to avoid it
 
npa, The short dance is one rep of the Golden Waltz, plus the skaters' choice of quickstep, foxtrot, tango or waltz for the remainder of the the dance, for Seniors. It is 2 reps of the Viennese Waltz and the skater's choice of quickstep, foxtrot, tango or waltz for Juniors. The number of reps is chosen so that it takes about 1 mnute to dance them. There is specifically no recommendation of particular music.

Here's the entire quote from ISU 1621 on music:

c) Music
The music for the entire Short Dance (including music for specified Pattern Dance) is provided by the
couple. Vocal music is permitted and can be used for any part of the dance. The music for the specified Pattern dance must be within the announced tempo range.

If the rhythm or range of tempo is incorrect it will be penalized.

For the Creative part, the music can be either the same rhythm as for specified Pattern Dance but the tune may be different. Or a couple may chose to skate in this part a different rhythm or rhythms than the specified Pattern dance, but in this case the additional rhythm(s) must be chosen from the group of rhythms announced for the season (see below). Only music with a rhythmic beat may be used and the couples must skate primarily to the rhythmic beat. The musical introduction to the Short Dance may be without beat or melody for a maximum of 10 seconds.

The choreography of the Creative part may be to the same rhythm as the specified Pattern Dance (Waltz) or to one or
two of the rhythms chosen from the following rhythms:

I was the one who posted the original info @FSU and a LJ community... at 4.30AM, after waiting a whole night to see Nobunari's SP @Thornhill. Forgive me for mis-Google-translating. ;) Should be Grieg's Piano Concerto 1st and 3rd movement.

(Although, to be fair to me, Nobu wrote it in an ambiguous manner and I was too lethargic to care about the numbers. I just wanted to post Nobu's message so the people who were worried about his withdrawal for Thronhill would know that it's just a minor injury).

That certainly is a confusing sentence. It's easy to see how one could interpret it as referring to two different concertos. If the composer had been someone like Rachmaninoff or Mozart, we'd all still be in the dark. Thanks for showing us Nobunari's whole post. It's like hearing his voice. I hope he recovers quickly!

The Grieg is wonderful music for skating. I'm looking forward to seeing Oda's routine. If not for the presence of Takahashi, he'd be my favorite male Japanese skater ever. His programs last year were stunning.
 
The recent icenetwork article says Andreev and Khoklova are doing a Russian waltz for the whole SD and selections from the Beatles' Abbey Road album, including Oh Darling for the FD.

Or again we will see junior level boys with girlish programs? Any news about the programs, elements, not just music? Brezina told in his last interview that he doesn't see men's skating without a quad. But he didn't say anything about his quads in his new programs.
