2010-2011 Programs by Discipline

Min-Jung Kwak (KOR)
FS: Caprice Bohemien by Sergei Rachmaninov

I thought her FS was to Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini?

I hope he works on his skating skills, turns, and transitions. It's painful to watch someone with 4S and 4T stroke like a Novice level skater.

Reynolds pre-rotates a lot on the 4T; many of his attempts should be getting downgraded IMO. His presentation is improving but he needs to fix that RIDICULOUS hair of his. He looks like a socially awkward 13 year old from the 1980's who wants to be in a hair band. Either that or a malnutritioned orphan.

Wow, harsh much? Not everyone can be as beautiful as Joubert or Yu Na!

Kevin could present himself better though. And he did get a hair cut last season which was a major improvement over his previous one. Presentation has a lot to do with a person's perceived attractiveness, and Kevin's needs some tweaking, although he's moving in the right direction.

Tada, Kevin will be skating to the following: http://apps.pjkwong.com/blog/?e=53774&d=09/05/2010&s=Catching Up With....Kevin Reynolds

I think it's a good idea to go for something more classical in this new quadrennial, as opposed to his "Led Zeppelin" FS last season, which was more to get him noticed in the Olympic season imho (and it worked for me). :)

And I look forward with great anticipation to see if Kevin will make history by landing two quads in the SP, and a possible 4R in the FS! *clapping*

But as far as "Jump King" goes, this guy will always be it for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywkMDHkeOZs (he too has landed 4R & also 4L in practices, and even tried one in competition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yEvVzq_uyA&feature=related). Not to mention he has landed over 100+ quads in competition, thus far. (:^) Truly a master of the quad. :)

 One would think, with Skate Canada's high performance camp being today and tomorrow that we'd finally get the lowdown on V/M's music , no? Practices and media scrum were today ( open to public).

Davis & White Change Music

Davis & White changed music for the Short Dance. Now skating to Verdi's La Traviata and Puccini's La Boheme.

:think:Hmmmm. The tinkering begins...( if that's for real)..where'd you see that ?

In Canton, MI. They changed after Champs Camp. USFS didn't care for Amalie - neither did I. This new interpretation suits them better. Beautiful sweeping moves. Shows off their power. In the FD, they use Il Postino first, then the 2 tangos. Meryl picked Il Postino but Charlie picked the tangos. A very romantic number.

BTW look out for the Shibs - they will be very competitive this season. Wonderful light quality to their skating so suitable to their style. Maia grew almost three inches stretched out and looks much more like a beautiful young lady. Samuelson & Bates say they are happy to be training with their friends in Canton and learning a lot. Igor went "wake boarding" with his son and injured his left arm, but was okay by the time I saw him. Unfortunately Virtue & Moir were in Canada, so I didn't see them.

Charlie's hair is stilll short but is under strict orders from Marina to let it grow, so Charlie said his hair will be longer by the time they get to NHK.

Thanks for the inside dope.

What about Khohlova-Andreev?

They've been training there since April/May and working hard. He still has to learn the Golden but they have a Beatles FD and seem to be further along with that. He is so much taller than Jana so their leg lines don't yet match. But Jana says she made the right decision to skate with Fedor. They plan to compete at Rus Nationals but are wary of saying that they would make the World or European Team.

That's good news. I really adore Shibutanis and Maia is stunningly beautiful! :) I'm looking forward to their new FD.

According to Takahiko’s fan site his long program music is Piano Concerto No. 1 by Liszt. Choreo by Zueva and Andreev.

Thanks for the scoop. So the Amelie SD wasn't all that good? It sounded like a good idea, showing off a soft side of their skating. What was the issue - was it too boring?

Meryl and Charlie were not specific as to what USFS testers said. However, to me Amalie is very blah. Tanith and Ben did not do so well with it as their FD. Meryl & Charlie's FD does show their softer side - it is a very romantic tango program, yet doesn't seem to diminish their speed or power.

Hmm, that's interesting. Is the Il Postino section of their FD meant to be a tango too?
