Some mistakes, but nice couple. Hopefully they will be great, when S/S retire.

Score: 54.10+50.04-1.00 =103.14 (PB), 158.38 (PB), in 1st (out of 14)

Our commentator was talking about a citizenship problem for Daria Popova which would mean that France can't send two couples to the Olympics. Can that be true? Because that would mean the Japanese can go.

I have to say that I really like Prolss/Blommaert: I saw them in Sesto last week and now here, they're very good, both technically and artistically! They are the future of German pair skating for sure!

OOH NOOO!!! The Japanese pair bombed :(
They now slip into fifth and won't be going to Sochi. Now Japan needs the Reeds to qualify in order to do the team event.

So in the end, the four qualifying nations for the pairs event are- Great Britain, Estonia, Ukraine and Israel.

And the Reeds are right on the cusp of qualifying after the short dance scores below. Anything could happen with the standings. *nail-biting*

4 Agafonova / Ucar TUR 51.51
5 Huang / Zheng CHN 51.16
6 Obrien / Merriman AUS 50.52
8 Reed / Reed JPN 48.41
9 Testa / Csolley SVK 48.30
10 Hurtado / Diaz ESP 46.68
11 Elsener / Roost SUI 46.27
12 Lindholm / Kanervo FIN 45.68

They're great! I didn't realize she was only 14!

Disaster for the Japanese pair. Not only missing the Olympics, but they didn't get a qualifying TES for Worlds.

Davis/Brubaker having a hard time including a completely missed lift. Rockne looks "off" and like he's rushing things. Not the skate they wanted.

Shame about the lift. The do seem more pair-like compared to the summer comps.

True, this may mean that the 5th place qualifier (Japanese) might get to go. We'll have to see whether France grants citizenship or not to Popova.

Either way, Takahashi / Kihara will need to get the necessary TES for the FS to qualify. So there's a lot still in the air.

Two questions about the Israeli pair:
--Is Davidovich an Israeli citizen? I had assumed so until I saw from her ISU bio that she is US-born.
--I know the Israeli Federation/Olympic Committee has their own standards for athletes to meet. Is there any chance they'd be "Tamar Katz'd" and not allowed to go?

They also didn't get the minimum SP TES needed for Worlds, though OK for Olympics. I presume they'll be competing somewhere else this fall.

german eurosport commentators said, that both have Israelian citizenship...

so when popova doesnt get the french citizenship..... narumi could go to the olymics
