2014 Worlds Men Short Program

I really like Fernandez, but I have a different opinion. If Machida skates clean, I want him to win. He is smooth. He will never be Daisuke or something, but becoming World Champion would not be undeserved.

Oh if he skates a clean LP and win over the other two it'll be completely deserved  But I just haven't been able to get behind his skating for some reason.

Is it just me or Worlds without PChan has become much of a better competition, even the scores look better and deserving?

Having just had a look at Machida's protocol and seeing two level 3s, the scores look just like the same old home-country overscoring that we see everywhere.

I think Firebird is ok. Yuzurus R&J isn't the best that's true. But Fernandez LP? Not that special to me. In general I thought the Olympic seasons programs were blah. I'm glad the season is over, hopefully there will be some experimenting next season, when it is not OMG OLYMPICS! anymore.

This is such an unfair comment about Chan. :disapp:No matter how he skates, he has been bringing some of the most gorgeous, most intricate skating programs and choreography to international competitions.

I miss him terribly throughout this competition. Sure there are a lot of clean and technically difficult skates, nice jumps, spins, step sequences, ect., but none of them move me like Chan's programs.

Lol, you haven't seen my posts on this forums. I am always supportive for PChan but seriously, lots of his wins are controversial and the scores always look somewhat unbelievable. Not that I don't miss PChan. I want him to come back. But I also want him to win with excellent programs such as he did it at TEB 2013. The problem is that, I really like PChan but I couldn't like it when he won with unattainable scores despite his falls.
Same thing apply for Hanyu. I really like the kid and I want him to win with a clean Free Skate, or else I will be very crossed.:scowl:

Honestly i'm not crazy about either of the top 3 Free skates,

But Firebird makes me wanna punch something,

I can appreciate the other two technically i guess, And i love the skaters performing them, So...

I like the top 3. Even though I'm very sad for Yuzuru, I'm happy for Javi and Machida. There will be an interesting battle for the gold medal.

Kovtun has worked with Mishin in the past. He and Gachinski did not get along, and then Kovtun decided he knew better than Mishin and left and worked on the jumps by himself. No wonder they're so ugly.

This is funny because its true. Kovtun has been very blunt about he's going to do the jumps however he likes because he's got to do them in a way that means he can land them.

I don't see his appeal. Wonky jumps, poor basics, slow skating, yet he got the same PCS as Jeremy and Kozuka. How the judges scored the SS alone is beyond me.

Lol I honestly don't like any of the top 3's LP, and Yuzuru's team needs to let R&J die already.:rolleye: They should have never gone for 2.0 because 1.0 was perfect IMO. Anyways, I love seeing programs with higher technical difficulties so that's probably why I prefer Javi's over Machida. =\

Honestly I would be happy with Machida winning because he is always under the radar and underperformed at the Olympics. Noone cared for him with Golden Boy Yuzuru and King Daisuke. So I would love the underdog to win. But I understand if you have other favourites to root for. I just want him to perform the best he can and deserve the win if he get's it.

Not sure that overscoring or high PCS for Chan is isolated, i.e. it doesn't happen to other skaters. I can see quite a bit of home inflation here too. A few who have skated cleanly, skated well, Javier, Verner, are losing to a falling Hanyu. Love Hanyu, he's improved, but don't think he should be scored so highly.

I don't think this should happen, and Chan and Hanyu should be penalized for falls, but it still doesn't detract from the quality of both skaters even if judges favor them.

I do wish Hanyu would develop skating programs that are more like Chan's. The only other skater I see making this level of effort is Mao Asada.

I have a lot of respect for Machida, his Firebird is great, but his programs are too obviously "emotional", holding head and shaking fists, etc..instead of the finesse of a Chan's program where he tugs at your heartstrings with impeccable moves timed to music to strike at the right notes. Perhaps working with a dance coach brought that quality to his skating, but the choreography as a whole is amazing, not just for the points-scoring parts.

If i'm not mistaken, And this is assuming when Fernandez goes for a 3lz-2t (Which usually becomes 2lz-2t) he never means to do a 3t:

BV (with all level 4's) :

Fernandez: 90.52
Hanyu: 89.22
Machida: 86:20

If Fernandez means to do a 3t there he's will be 93.49, But i find that hard to believe, 3 quads 8 triples

How is it possible that Hanyu with fall beats clean Verner ??
He is the Olympic Gold Medalist. One small fall doesn't matter if your name is Hanyu. The same happened with Patrick Chan, it is just history repeating.

I actually think Yuzuru interpreted his program better than Javi even if he looked a bit stiff compared to his previous SP's

How long was he in Mishin's team? Because at the moment i really don't see Mishin technik inthere. Perhaps that now Gachinski is out of the team, Kovtun might go to Mishin's summer camp.

If he doesn't improve them fast i can really see Pitkeev overtaking him till the next olympics.

Just a quick observation: It's not lost on me that Jason Brown can walk away with the top three short program scores internationally among the U.S. men this season. It is really too bad he's not here.

I know. I would have loved to see his programs one more time!!! The number one goal of USFS has to be getting 3 spots back.
