2014 Worlds Men Short Program

Am I the only want have the feeling that Hanyu skated faster than in Sochi? Someone poster also stated that. Or is it because of the camera angle? Because if he skated with that speed, with such confidence right after the fall, without hesitation like he had never fell at all, then I think his PCS is kinda okay. I have a feeling he has a better mentality for the falls. He recovered more quickly than most skaters.

I don't know , there is some feeling like that. At the beginning he looked very nervous, but for me after the fall he was going amazingly forward with huge confidence.

The video of his world SP today and in Sochi, I have watched them both in my computer and I do feel like he is much faster. It maybe because if the camera angle anyways. But if it's true that he is that faster than in Sochi, then it seems to me he was like trying to run away from the crow asap. :rolleye: meh, if it were me, I would do the same. Just kidding. Anyway, with such speed and huge confidence, I think his PCS is not a big issue here. He is out of the gold race anyways, that fall is fatal.

Euro guys don't agree with you--they thought Machida should have had a world record :)

Seriously, I don't know why anyone is grumbling about Machida being in first. He was the best in the SP!

No, he wasn't. Two of his spins got level 3s. I'm sorry, but no-one should get anywhere near 100 unless they have a full set of level 4s.

There was also NO Russian skater in the Men's event. And there is Japanese on the panel, just not drawn for SP, which could change for FS. There is also a JPN referee.

NO. The only Japanese judge is in PAIRS. None in Men, Dance or Ladies.
The Referee doesn't decide levels, PCS or GOE.

The men's tech and judging panels in Sochi were the same ones for the TEAM event where Plushy finished second and Russia won the GOLD MEDAL. In the singles event, the deck was stacked for him if he had continued.....but he didn't.

He's not out of the race, and he NEVER gives up.
He has a history of giving his best, when his back's against the wall (2012 World's and 2013 World's).
But he does need a little help from Fernandez and Machida...

Anyways, I am rooting for Javi, please land all the quads and get that world title. Because you are the only one that has a decent looking costume in FS
You are crazy. You know that, don't you?

If she gets another person to agree with her upon review of the element and she's a tough cookie on spin and step levels too

Ervin IS known for calling a number of reviews.

Oh please, I was just joking there. I would be happy if Hanyu wins despite that costume. If Javi wins of course I will be happy for him and Orser too. Not that I have a favor for Javi's SP costume either.
Don't take my words about how the skater dress themselves too serious because I always joke about the costume. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

My "crazy" comment was meant to be humorous too... :-D

Lol, you can see my previous comments which has lot of rants and jokes about costumes. not that I can make the skaters dress the way I would love them to anyways.

That skate of Machida was better than Hanyu's WR skate at the Olympics....
If Hanyu's 100, Machida should have been 104.

I wish Han Yan can finish on the podium but that's unlikely, so i'm going to hope for a top 5

While Machida was on, I didn't enjoy his artistry that much. He definitely felt the music, but in terms of expressiveness and interpretation, I thought Hanyu's Olympic performance was better, and more polished as well.

The B ESP commentator said that Javi's skating quality wasn't as good as the top four guys. What did he mean by that, anyone know? Skating skills, edges? I really couldn't detect how Javi's skating quality was worse. I will say though, I'm kind if tired of Javi doing Chaplin type routines. Also, I'm very glad that this will be the last time Hanyu uses R&J.

I love both Yuzuru and Javier as skaters, and I really hate their programs this year.
I can't wait for Yuzuru to throw away that creepy costume in the LP.
Agree on the "chaplin-like" programs for Javier. Time to upgrade the style.

There's something about Javi's skating that I can't seem to appreciate. He used to be a so called "third-tier" guy, ranking in the low 30s at Worlds - yes, I do realize he was very young and also comes from a very weak federation. He seemed to have improved a lot under Brian Orser, but even so, his skating seems kinda chunky and laboured. Maybe it's his body type? I don't know what it is but even his jump landings seems rough on the edge.

I really like Machida's SP but he doesn't have the spark or charisma Hanyu has.

Thank you. So Yoshinori Onishi is the one wearing brown suit? Do you know who he is the one wearing black suit?

Kelly, this thread is growing so quickly that I can't tell whether your question has already been answered, but in case it hasn't: Phillip Mills (choreographer) was also in the Kiss-n-Cry with Machida.
If the question was already answered, I apologize for the repeat.
