Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

Yagudin the emperor in 2002 with the legendary short program Winter and Long program The man with an iron mask. And yagudin was 22 years old at that time. Yuzuru is still 19. Awesome kid! He is the rightful successor of legendary Plushy and Yagudin!

Woah...I must search that program then! Thank you for answering my question. Sorry for asking a lot of questions, but what would be Yuzu's next competition? I can't help but look forward to the future programs he'll do next! (Though of course, health comes first!) And come to think of it, it seems to be a one-way path for Yuzuru. I mean, athlete tend to have their downs, and sometimes these downs change them for the worse. Yes, as a 19-year old kid (why do I love to call him "kid"? XD)
, he's surely achieved so much!

And those German commentators need to be sanctioned for being rude! That is just unethical and disrespectful. Here I am thinking that no one could ever dislike nor hate Yuzuru for his purity and youthfulness.

that'll be either a Grand Prix Event or another lesser international competition if he chooses to do one! He's done Finlandia Trophy for the last two seasons before the GP circuit, so he may do it again this coming season.

Yuzuru Hanyu, 2013-2014 season Grand Prix Final champion, Olympic champion, and World champion. Wow. Congrats to Yuzu for making this season his season completely, and an amazing fight in his free earlier today. I couldn't watch it live but I did later, and though I can't say I enjoyed much of it because I was so anxious about his jumps (I think his artistry was better in GPF) but I was happy to see him lad the 4s, even if only barely. He did it!!! and now for the gala. I hope he'll do my favorite, Hana Ni Nare~

I'm excited for next season, and I'm really hoping for some programs that I'll enjoy. I'm glad to see R&J2 go heh.

Oh my god! OH MY GOD!!! Did he seriously just clean skate that program?:clap::bow:

Well done, Yuzu! I'm sorry for doubting you at first! You really are a champion and definitely a fighter! So proud of him! Like I'm speechless, I don't know what to say! Just... WOW!!! At every Worlds, he always does poorly in his SP but then kills it in the FP! Like it's some sort of tradition to create the tension and right before he starts the FP, he'll be like "Oh, expecting me to make mistakes? WELL HOW ABOUT THIS! YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS!" BAM-- NAILS THE FP!!! Bravo, Yuzu! Now go take a rest! You deserve it :agree:

I watch it for the third time now and I still feel like my eyes will water.
The German commentators are idiots. But those other two English commentators who yelled "Yes!" both at the same time when his scores came out were so amusing.

Just saw this video of an interview with Yuzuru's idol Evgeni Plushenko before the FP when many had doubts Yuzuru can still come back and win.

Plushenko: "He must understand he is Olympic champion and he needs to skate how he can. Because he is such a great skater, he is number one, and the best skater in the world...he will skate very good and I think he will win." Such a vote of confidence from one champion to another. Truly the torch has been passed.

I think Yuzuru made history today and became a young living legend.

I’m sure he’s the only living legend in skating history who played with his coach Pooh in the K&C. Best and cutest team ever!:)
right at the end of the FS I was very impressed by Yuzu’s incredibile gaze, whose intensity reminded me of the epic one at the end of R&J n1 in Nice.

Yuzu always transmits a lot of energy to me, but unexpectedly I was in tears for the very first time watching his FS.

Thank you so much!

Well not sure whether that was unprofessional of them. Simon Reed and Chris Howarth have openly admitted being 'big fans" of Yuzuru in their coverage of him at 2013 Worlds, calling him "an absolute genius."

Seriously, they have been fair in their commentary of Yuzuru's skating and that of other skaters. Love them even though at times they have made a hash of Yuzuru's name: "Yazunori Hanyu" and "Yazura Hanyu."

The commentators from British Eurosport always liked Yuzu. 5:30 "supreme young talent"

Wow that's amazing. I mean if you're like Plushie who's been in the game for so long and truly understand the mentality of the skaters, he was bound to be right. I had absolutely no doubt he was going to skate cleanly despite not having done so all season. No idea why, just based on his personality? I think him bombing the SP gave him that extra mental push he needed to skate it as close to perfect as he could.

Satisfying end to the free skate and even though it wasn't a satisfying end for PW, it did give him the WR and broke the 100 pt barrier. Good season Yuzu!

Congratulations to Yuzu! I really thought that Machida was going to be World Champion
after his skate but this young man went out there and skated like a champion.

AHH I'M SO PROUD OF YUZURU! He's so determined—that boy wants everything and he's going to give it his all to get it. Props to him. I want his determination and grit, haha. That is a CLUTCH performance. I am so, so, so impressed.

It was so cute how the Eurosport commentators were like "YES!" when his score was called out. I'm sure they were rooting for him, heh.
AHH, it's been a good day! College acceptances and my BB won Worlds!

Clutch performance describes it perfectly. Total grit. That quad salchow landing . . . willpower, balance, talent, conditioning, wisdom. I am amazed at his biellmann and his ina bauer with the back issues he was having. I think those were the most beautiful he has done all season. This skate is a great way to end the season for a great champion! (I know you don't read these threads, Yuzuru, but if you can hear this thought: please don't skate the gala if your back is hurt.)

Haha I think a lot of his fans were sort of bracing themselves for today, because it's always easier to set yourself up with lower expectations and be pleasantly surprised than set yourself up with high expectations and then get disappointed.

Well, I hope Yuzu keeps on surprising us. I can't wait to see his exhibition, I wonder what he will choose this time? Story, maybe?

I have the same feeling. Most of the time I think of the worst when it comes to my favorite skaters, but this time I'm surprisingly confident about the FS.

I'll start saying this before every competition:laugh:

We need to trust Yuzu, he just showed us everything is possible when you really want something.

Although I'm not such a fan of R&J 2, his Ina Bauer at the climax of the program is an amazing piece of choreography.
