Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

For costumes -if there was a male version of this dress, it might suit him.
I guess you could take that as it is and just have to sew the skirt part together to turn it into pant legs - done

I think the glitter/shiny factor is ok, but the rhinestones were a bit too much; his R+J no.2 costume was more glamorous than some of the ladies'!
speaking of too much bling on the R&J TWO costume... well, ahem...

Although I know skating is top priority for him, if he could try some other sports just for leisure/fun/stress relief, it might help him in other ways: i.e. swimming, tennis, archery etc.

Aside from skating, the only sport he seems to like much is baseball (because of his dad and all). I remember he once said that soccer and basketball are not his things (but I forgot the reason). I think archery is cool, it might help him know how to deal with pressure in competition...

About costumes, I love his Zigeunerweisen one. Colourful but very lovely

Going on with the costume topic, would he look good in metallic blouses? (a crazy idea of mine) Would it suit him?

Judging from the "Hello I love you" exhibition, I think it would. But the problem is with his shinning leather trousers. I myself don't mind, but I know a certain amount of people finds it unbearable

【Yuzu @book】his university study and activities in free time

There is a book published last December written by Yukari Nakano. She is a former female skater, now works for Fuji TV.

The title is “Style of top skaters – nine figure skaters’ real stories”. Yuzu is written in chapter 5. He was interviewed around last late June after Dream Ice Show.

Yuzu answered about his university study and activities in free time. (By the way, Nakano was graduated from Waseda University eSchool courses as Yuzu does now. She further studied to get a master degree.)

【Study】

Firstly, Yuzu learns English course through Skype with teachers. It is quite tough to him, as they would talk in English during the class. So he usually prepares the dialogues based on the assignments in advance. When the class starts, he speaks according the content. Besides, there are some free talk time later which pushes him to talk adaptable.

And then, Yuzu has the tough courses of Statistics, Study Skill etc. The latter’s assignments are needed to write essays and reports every two weeks. Although they are not easy, he still can handle them.

【Free time】

With intensive studying and training, there is limited free time to Yuzu.

In free time, Yuzu plays the online games with 3DS and PSP (both are online game machines). Recently, he plays PAD games, as the machine is easy to carry.

Besides, Yuzu loves to listen Japanese pop music, and sometimes he sings at bath time.

He seldom watches movies. For TV programs, he likes to watch sports and news. The Open Championship (Golf program) was an example.

Thank you so much for this  Oh boy, this kid just won't stop making me feel inadequate will he :bang:

Or Yuzuru just should let Meryl and Charlie´s moms do his costume desing. Charlie have look impecable most of the time (and color coordinated with Meryl) https://www.google.hn/search?q=mery...rFsATH5oHgBw&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=667

Yes... love those photos of Meryl and Charlie and Charlie always looks amazing. :p

I think one of the many wonderful things about Yuzu is his warrior mentality and presence on the ice. The frilly, more feminine costumes like R&J2 just don't seem to fit that, although I agree that with his body type he looks good in anything.

Evan's costumes designed by Vera Wang are good examples of costumes that would look great on Yuzu. The Johnny Weir designs, which were fine for Johnny, are far too feminine for Yuzu, especially since his body has matured and become more athletic looking in the past year. I vote for Yuzu giving an experienced designer like Vera a chance to to come up with something amazing for next season. :)

Question~

What's one major improvement you would like to see from Yuzuru next season? Better lines and posture? Deeper edges? More consistency in his 4S? A new quad? Or just better music + costumes?

I personally would like to see a further improvement on his basic's. Lines, edges and stamina. Easier said than done of course, but he's already improved heaps with Tracy so I hope she can keep working with him on those.

Definitely lines and posture. You probably all saw the videos of Denis and Yuzu doing 4Ts and 3As and it becomes painfully obvious that Yuzu's lines aren't quite up to speed with Denis's, which are just gorgeous. So I hope he continues to work on his strength and keep his posture!

^ Oh just saw it and my thoughts exactly! And it seems Dennis's jumps are smoother on the landing (less stressful on the joints). I hope Yuzuru really concentrates on his ballet lessons at TCC to improve his carriage so he can set his long limbs and swan like neck to best advantage.

True, but I also wonder if Yuzu's speed going into his jumps have anything to do with it. He usually has poor lines but I'm wondering if his speeds affects it as well. Compared to other skaters, Yuzu plows into his jumps and when he goes faster than his usual speed, its insane. Even in the video you can see the difference. Does anyone know?

Him recognizing he has things that needs improvements is the one area where I never worry about. He has such a good head on his shoulders and always understands his shortcomings. He constantly wants to improve and accepts criticism, something I think alot of people have trouble with (especially the elites) Its him pushing himself too far that worries me :slink:

He just said on a news article interview today that his goal is to focus more on ballet training, as he also notices his posture goes downhill at the 2nd half of his FS. He is well aware of the many improvements still to be made ^^

According to his latest interview, he said he wants to take ballet lessons and improve skating. I think he knows his weakness quite well, there's nothing to worry about him.

Doublemeat, seems like both you and I are getting the same updates :) Do you know if there is a link to the original interview? I hope the others here can get a better picture of the full interview.

And most importantly, yuzu mentioned his goal is to stay healthy so he can go further in the journey!

Glad to know that. I think part of the problem is that he started having ballet lessons late, and only when he was in Canada.

PS. You two don't happen to be twins BTW? :)

I saw it on a newspaper of Japan. I'm not sure if I can find it but I'll try.:p
