Oh I understand what you are trying to insinuate - and why - just fine.

Fear and Gibson's program was much better than earlier in the season. A deserved victory over the sleepy Vincent program, which Piper and Paul performed better at Skate Canada. If Piper and Paul don't have tears in their eyes at the end of that FD (which they didn't), then they have failed to commit fully to the emotion of what is being portrayed by that song. Either that or they need to skate it with the absolute most precise delicacy possible, which isn't what happened.

Papadakis is just pathetic with her IG posts about lovely amazing Bates. Now she loves C/B, lmao. She is embarrasing herself. Bates is the weakest skater of them all. She is SO objective.

She behaves like 13 years old

If you're this triggered by Gabby's instagram posts, better steel yourself for January 15th. That's the day her book is scheduled to drop.

The French will arrive at the Olympics with a lot of scrutiny as the Press will talk about Laurence's former partner and people will have read Gabriella's new book which will not be favourable towards them. They will need to completely block all of that out and just skate for themselves -- just look what happened to Kamila.
Unfortunaly , for now, all the journalists are ignoring Fournier's former partner and FB/C's public support. No journalist is interested in Gabriella (she's simply been ignored). The book is being released in France, and French journalists have rolled out the red carpet for FB/C, ignoring the Sorensen affair, and Gabi is no longer relevant. French fans adore Cizeron. Getting the book publicized in France won't be easy, and it's very likely it will receive very little media coverage (it's being released at the same time as the European Championships...and nobody wants to hear what Gabriella has to say). The important thing is Cizeron's comeback and the likely gold medal. FB/C have nothing to worry about. It's sad.

Round of applause for Maddy and Evan.

I am sad about Piper and Paul though, that was really unfair :( Ted mentioned enjoying the dances for what they are, which I did! But it does kind of sour things when a team doesn't get the proper recognition. Not to mention the affect it must have on Piper and Paul!
Why should the feelings of that one particular team matter more than others? Why shouldn't other teams deserve recognition as much as them?

I remember back in late 2022 they were deemed undeserving when they dominated the Grand Prix.
It seems like medal winners will always be criticised. And those that don't get medals will be designated as victims.

What did she do to you? Without Gabriela, Cizeron would be nothing. People will be interested in her book. Exhibit A: revise their programs of the 2019 WCs, their Tango RD in particular. Gabby brought life into P/C. Gabby is just being herself. Clearly, she hit a nerve. Why should we even care so much about temporary IG posts? Bock, where are the skating skills to match those TES scores? Where is the flamenco? What is the concept? How does Bock not score similarly to either G/P or F/G? But say what this is ID, it's all subjective.

They have been friends for a long time. Was talked about on their podcast and on the On Edge series before the last Olympics. I don't think her post was specifically about his skating.
People seem not to understand, because there is nothing to understand. Madison is an accomplished athlete, but sugar and spice and everything nice to everyone all the time, no one is. I'm sure she has her fair share of enemies, but does it really matter? It really isn't that deep. Soon enough, they'll be retired, and hopefully, there'll be more fabulous skating skills and ice dance to admire.

Mark saying they are the surprise of the seaon. No they're not! Those of us that have been following them knew how good they were before this season!
That's why I prefer Simon and Louise's commentary on Eurosport. And in my opinion, Emilea and Vadim's FD was WAY better last season. I don't this one suits them at all.

Reading all the debates I am agree with the overall disappointment of the event. BUT NOT because of the result in first place, but the overall quality of the competitors (technique, edges, intricacy, ice-coverage, perfect dance-hold while skating in one leg, engagement, entertainment-wise).
It seems to me that the coaching teams are more professional and talented than the dancers. They try (and succeed) to emphasize strength and hide shortcomings of the different couples, creating their distinctive, own style doing so. Brilliant.
Unfortunately the last quadrennium was very weak in this discipline. As long as Chock/Bates could win 3 consecutive World titles (like Pahomova-Gorshkov, Torvil-Dean, Bestemianova/Bukin or Grischuk-Platov could only do in the last 50 years)- especially because I think the last one they even deserved to win, unless the previous 2- it shows the overall quality....
They are simply mediocre with a great packaging by their coaching team. In the past a couple with their look and skating skill would be typically fighting for a placement of 5th-6th, getting into the final group for Free Dance.
All the team is good anyway, time -to-time enjoyable. "If you cannot have Maria Callas anymore sometimes you can enjoy a less good performers", but none of them got the full package that made the IAM Team get in full force to freely create art as long as Beaudry/Cizeron came into the picture. They have a different league of their own. I can easily understand that it was (IS) annoying to everyone, who hoped high PLACES with their own limitations in this game , which suddenly got its serious doubt . It was a pleasure to see the same coaching team being deliberated and creating art, instead of hard working to hide shortcomings of the different couples.
Then they started to talk about non-figure-skating related topics, like a book, and someone elses personal scandal- and being happy with a fault caused by the wrong, too long skirt instead of:
1. When Chock-Bates will retire we will remember their titles, some of her dresses, her acting availability and long-hold poses only. Not their actual skating (speed, ,edges, ice covering etc.). After many years we used to get their uneven look and quality, because they are sold (they ARE) as NICE people. They are easy to forget about them soon. Arguably the BEST "packeged" team out there in many ways.
2. Piper/Paul were my long term favourites in THIS (weak) field, because of many innovations before, and some of their previous programs have been masterfully designed to their possibilities. Now I find them outdated, look old-fashioned without enough extension and Poirier (with all the good edge qualities) remained to be woodden after so many long years.
3. The Italians been the best technicians before with boring programs, not fitting, somehow uncomfortable look, and programs that nobody remembers to (except the annoying robot program last season, which seems to kill them THIS season). When they are not technically perfect, like in this season, they have not much to offer us anymore.

The couples that give a positive feelings right now are for me Fear/Gibson (yes, technically not there, but able to entertain and bring people in the hall and on their feet watching them), the great improving Lithuanians (especially HE started to be great),
Zhingas/Kolesnyk, whom they impressed me first in this season combining star quality with good technik and able to connect to the audience (I can see them one of those who can change the not-so-good period to a better one),
Laioe/Lagha, with great potential, technique, programs (only Lagha needs to learn how to interact with his partner during the programs to create a better vibe)
Smart/Dieck with talent, good techique and the ability to create emotions instead of only concentrating technical details),
The Finns, with their lightness, classic lines and good edges.

There is a hope for a better future, if fans and judges do NOT go with "second feelings" when evaluate what we see in the competitions.

P.S. I am Hungarian, a die hard fan of the discipline since 1972, grew up on Pahomova/Gorshkov, Moiseeva/Minenkov, Regőczy/Sallay, Torvil/Dean, therefore I have NO national bias expressing my opinion.
It is a BEAUTIFUL discipline!

As a fellow uberfan of this lovely team, I have to disagree with your impression of the performance. I thought they had the intensity in spades and even brought a kind of desperate romantic passion out in the program that had not been as present in previous performances. Technically as sharp as ever.

Emilea and Vadym's performances always captivate me from start to finish -- their dances always seem short and I am always "surprised" when they end because I am enjoying every moment and completely along for the ride.

This is intersting how we have two totally different interpretations of what we saw.

For me, there wasn't the same sparkle as there was in previous performances of this programme. And as I indicated in the post, I was putting it down to them being nervous at first, and then tiring.

I don't really do social media any more, and I can't be bothered watching videos other than programmes. But, after hearing what Mark said about people being nasty towards Emilea, I watched the video Emilea posted where she talked about it (Although I have never been on Twitter, I have now found a way of reading it again, and have started regularly visiting @NoNameFace's page again. So thank you to her for commenting about it. I would never have been able to find the video otherwise). And I just can't get my head around why anybody would do that.

I do wonder if this was preying on their minds, especially after finishing last in the Short Dance (not that they had any problems. It's just that somebody has to be last, and this time it just happened to be them). And if this was why they looked nervous right from the moment they came through the doorway before the start of the Warm-Up. Because they felt the pressure to make a point to these nasty people.

I'm not sure about Emilea, but Vadym was definitely running on fumes by the end of the programme. It was plain to see after they finished.

I dread to imagine what shape he would have been in if they had done the Tallinn Trophy the previous weekend. So, maybe it is just as well that there weren't any flights from Estonia that would have got them to Japan in time.

Hopefully they will have a few weeks now to properly rest and prepare for what is undoubtedly the most important event of the season for them - Nationals. Because that is where it will be decided who goes to each of the Majors. And with there being an extra Major this season, not to mention extra opponents for the slots, it is all the more important that they are on their best form when the selections are being made.

Oh, I hope they do well!
