To me it seemed like her skate skidded a bit on the take off in a way it wasn't supposed to, and he was also a bit off balance? Pity.

I was only 5 months.....Of course before I became a fan of the sport I've heard of them. Beautiful story of their love though.

Wow! 20 years! I didn't realise it was the anniversary.
I didn't start watching until this side of the Millennium, but I have watched old videos of Katia and Sergei, and they were amazing.
A huge loss to the sport.

I mean, yes, the score was low, but it always kind of astounds me when skaters look surprised/upset at scores after they know full well they just had a skate with mistakes. I don't mean looking upset at the skate itself, I mean when they quite obviously look upset and surprised at the scores. What do they expect? That a magic fairy came and took the mistakes away? That their overall skating skills are so superior to everyone else that they are going to get 9's on PCs when they obviously deserve 7's at best even without mistakes? It's bizarre to me.
