2010-2011 Programs by Discipline

I'm hoping it's this version by Keith Jarrett off of La Scala. While I've never thought of it as a figure skating piece, because it repeats itself (thematically and harmonically at least) and is 5+ minutes long, I think the right cut could make it build more quickly and make for a great program.

This version definitely changed my image!! I've thought "Over The Rainbow" for only up to junior skaters because of its melody. That piece sounds more mature for sure.
It would be interesting for him/her that skated to original to skate this to show us his/her growup:biggrin:

The 2010-2011 row on the "Programs" section of Miki's wikipedia article says that she's already performed her short somewhere. Does anyone have news on this?

I assume it was for "the Ice" or another Japanese show that was not posted on youtube.

edited to add:

I did you youtube search and found that Miki performed this :

for Dreams on Ice this past June. Maybe this is inspired from her planned SP? Beautiful program here, but usually her competition programs to not match the high standards of her exhibitions.

It was at Friends on Ice last weekend. It won't be broadcasted until late September, so we won't know for sure till then. But the report said it was hip hop played by the violin. Another clue is that it began with noise of thunder. Japanese fans have been busy trying to identify the tune(s), and some suggested Nuttin' But Stringz.

I'm wondering what that wunderkid from Canada will be skating to......I cheered him on all last season.....he's very fragile-looking, has very fine red strawberry blonde hair, styled weirdly, lol, and can do quads! He skated to Led Zeppelin last season, which I enjoyed tremendously, and did excellent at his Nationals in Canada, but lost out on a spot to the Olympics, just barely. I didn't dispute that because the other guy has jumps like I haven't seen in ages ~ like he's jumping up into the rafters! (8^O

Aha, now I recall his name ~ Kevin Reynolds!!!! Can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve this season, after medalling at 2010 4CC. Hopefully he has improved his speed and jumps bigger, otherwise he has a very fine future ahead of him. :)

p.s. happy to hear that Ashley Wagner will be skating to Led Zeppelin as well. (:^)

Sinead and John Kerr will use for this season:
SD: "At last" by Etta James and "Shut up and let me go" by The ting tings
FD: Exogenesis: Symphony, Pt. 3: Redemption

Interesting choices for the SD

I hope Reynolds worked on his axel jumps. Seeing him do single axels or falling after he does a quad toe and quad salchow is unfortunate.

I hope he works on his skating skills, turns, and transitions. It's painful to watch someone with 4S and 4T stroke like a Novice level skater.

Samuel Contesti managed to do well for himself despite having the stroking skills and flow of a novice skater...

Lol, everybody is coming down on poor Kevin Reynolds. I admit I wasn't too fond of him either when I first heard about this strange kid with the quads. And I too laughed at his presentation, et al. But that's a thing of the past, he impressed me with his Led Zeppelin montage, and he *does* seem to be improving little by little by little. My hope is that all these critical comments will inspire him to do even better, much like Zhenya was inspired last year with the comments from his so-called "enemies", even to the point where he thanked them. :D ;)

I would say it about any skater, including the ones I share ice with, when it is true. If blade to ice quality is lacking for the level the skater is at, it's painful to watch. I could watch Jeremy Abbott all day, even if he missed all his elements because of the quality of his skating, but then, I appreciate what it takes to skate like that and it is something that I really have been working toward lately...in addition I could watch some of the Juvenile and Intermediate skaters I share ice with all session (if I didn't have my own work to do :) ) because the blade to ice quality is outstanding for the level and I cringe when I see some of the others at that level because it can be downright scary. I felt the same way about Mira Leung and some of the lower ranked American skaters at Nationals.

Lovely music for S&B (though I thought they skated to their FD music a couple of seasons ago?, with fabulous results). I hope they do well, even if I don't plan on watching them until Nationals). :)

S/B.. I think you're thinking of their Sailor & 40's girl OD.. music from On the Town, I think. I love this FD choice for them.
