2010-2011 Programs by Discipline

Hmm, that's interesting. Is the Il Postino section of their FD meant to be a tango too?

It definitely has a tango feel to it. This is a very "dance-y" program, unlike their other FD routines. I did not see it all the way through as in a full performance since they, like all the other teams, worked on various sections of their programs.

Meryl and Charlie were not specific as to what USFS testers said. However, to me Amalie is very blah. Tanith and Ben did not do so well with it as their FD. Meryl & Charlie's FD does show their softer side - it is a very romantic tango program, yet doesn't seem to diminish their speed or power.

Wow, have you seen it? A romantic tango could be excellent!

I don't know if this has been already posted here or not but Russian pair Yuko Kavaguti & Alexander Smirnov's SP is "Also Sprach Zarathustra" by Richard Strauss. Herbert von Karajan: Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
And LP is Soundtrack from "Twilight","Clair de Lune" composed by Claude Debussy, performed by The APM Orchestra

Can we pretend that it's "Clair de Lune" from Atonement instead?

I was curious about Amelie for D/W (despite its overuse) but think they made the right call in switching it. I'm also glad to see they're trying for a more romantic piece as well - it'd be cool to see if they got a stronger connection to the other.

Yes, I did see it but only in bits and pieces - not a full run-through. This is not an "epic drama" type FD. Charlie says it's all about love. Did see a few "sexy" moves. They were working on a difficult low lift. Will have to wait and see the final version at NHK.

Alessandrini/Vaturi

SD: "C'est si bon"
"That's amore"

FD: "Rocco e i suoi fratelli" soundtrack by Nino Rota

Greate music choice for Kh-A SD - look, like first senior V-M FD idea, the first ball. Marina talk with canadian journalist about her son, who will represent Russia

Why we didnt have any news about V-M music? When SC will announce canadian skaters music in ISU bio?
Maybe someone have more information for HPC?

I don't think it is Skate Canada's problem to update the ISU bio for their skaters, rather the skaters themselves. For example, Weaver / Poje's page has been updated:

SD At last - Etta James
Cheek to cheek - Irving Berlin
FD Sparkling diamonds
Come what may
El Tango by Roxanne

I love the music "At Last"........absolutely divine.........ahhhh. Now I'm listening to it, over & over & over again, ad infinitum. :)

Thank you!
Now we will see more Tango Roxanne

^ Why? IMO that's great music to skate/dance to. Krylova & Ovsiannikov's 99 OD remains one of my absolute favourites.

That piece in particular grates on my ears, with its "peppiness." It's just a personal thing. It also doesn't sound all that different from the waltz tracks used for the compulsory dances. One thing I always disliked about the various waltz CDs is how the peppy music would result in dancers having plastered smiles on their faces. But I will admit, the song fits the steps of the Golden Waltz well.

KKonas, do you know what pieces D/W used for the SD?

D&W begin with La Boheme then go into La Traviata. It is the same piece of music K&O used for La Traviata, but no vocals. But I did not see the full run-through. Golden Waltz is in the middle of the routine.

Do you know if they're using "Musetta's Waltz" from La Boheme? I love all the music from that opera, so I'm excited they're using it!
