2010-2011 Programs by Discipline

And good for Brian for trying this. I honestly thought when I heard about Brian's music choice he would be using a techno/ remix version
I may actually root for him this year.

Shock, I can't believe we may actually agree on something ~ Brian Joubert! :) That's a first, lol.

Seriously, I'll be rooting for him this year, not that I didn't last year, it's just that I was cheering more loudly for Zhenya, of course. ;)

Brian frustrates me every now & then because of his personality. Like how easily he was psyched out by Evgeni at the 2010 European Championships, then immediately after the Olympics he started putting himself down, calling himself names, et al. A defeatist attitude. I just wanted to shake him and tell him to grow up! Like Elvis mentioned last season, I too am upset when I see Brian skating around with his head down when he has a bad performance. In the words of Elvis Stojko, "head up, Joubert, head up!" This is the main difference between Elvis & Evgeni versus Brian, the former are two-time (three-times in Evgeni's case) Olympic Medalists because they have C-O-N-F-I-D-E-N-C-E!!!!! It literally radiates from them, you'll never see them give up during a performance, or go around with their head hanging down. :(

In fact this reminds me of a scene straight out of "The Godfather" wherein Marlon Brando's adult godson comes to him asking for help, saying "what can I do Godfather, what can I do!?!" (weeping), and Marlon shakes him and tells him "the first thing you can do is act like a man! What's the matter with you!?! Is this how you turned out in Hollywood? A man who cries like a woman? Ahhh, uhhh, what can I do? What can I do?" (mimicking him, lol).

Sorry, I don't mean to make fun of you, Brian. It's just that you are just as good as Elvis & Evgeni, with even more quads!, but you eventually have to grow up and act like a man. Get some confidence, perhaps even move from your native France if that's what it takes. Maybe get married and settle down like Elvis & Evgeni have done. It's frustrating to see you come so close only to lose it in the end. Hopefully this year is different. I'll be seriously rooting for you! :)

p.s. and I do admire your honesty, you let your feelings show, unlike politicians, whom one can never trust, they're as crooked as the mafia, but at least the mafia is honest about it.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BRIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting, this season we have battling witches (Nagasu and Leonova) and battling Michael Jackson's (Amodio and Verner). Should be exciting to warch!

Confidence doesn't necessarily go along with maturity. Too much confidence is often a sign of immaturity. I don't see why Brian's lack of confidence indicates in any way that he needs to "grow up".

Yes, what a great way for Marlon Brando's character to behave. If you think this attitude is something to be proud of or to celebrate, I would suggest that you haven't understood what the film is saying.

Maybe get married and settle down like Elvis & Evgeni have done.

Maybe there's no-one in his life that he wants to be married to at the moment? Really, it's his business and certainly not yours.

Well, goldenpleasures, et al, that's why we have these kinds of boards because we all have different opinions. :) And we all like different skaters. Which is okay by me, as long as someone doesn't try to slam their opinion down my throat or is intolerant of whom I like as a skater, everything else is fine. :)

Lol, and it's good to keep in mind that opinions are like a-holes, we all have one.

This is the same music Dai is using.( If this is in any way an attempt to invite comparison between the two, it's a bad plan.) I saw this before..and I have to say it's completely gross and frankly pretty disgusting. Another thing Morozov should have to answer for.

Here's my objection to the pelvic gyrations , really naked costumes etc. ( of which this is about the worst example I've seen) these things have nothing to do with the skating , they're merely for titillation's sake. But does that have a place in competition ? You can't really argue that it's art (or sport)... Furthermore, these senior skaters are emulated by the younger skaters, who try to incorporate what they see as winning ,or even just attention-getting elements into their own programs. Coaches should have some respect for them ( their future bread and butter ) if nothing else. Do we really want to see a bunch of 12 or 13 yr. old boys imitating this ? or young girls in mainly mesh costumes with only a lotus, or leaf ,or whatever between them and nudity ?
I always found Michael Jackson's crotch grabbing pretty ridiculous and a little unsettling since so many of his fans were very young , but it's nothing compared to this.

Javier..wake up and get away !

Put it in a show if you absolutely must. Then people can choose to pay to see it or not. ( I wouldn't)

The judges have the power to penalize this stuff, and I hope they do ,this year.

Just finally watched Brian's SP. So fun! I'm actually excited about him this year. I'm voting him mostly-likely-to-make emotional comeback :) No jinx intended.knock on wood, knock on wood

Haven't dared to look at Javier's. Sounds depressing.

I've looked at Javier's skating, and I concur about the very start of the program, totally inappropriate and will most likely get docked for basically fondling his c**k for those first 20 or so seconds. Didn't bother to watch more than a minute or two, just checking him out to see what the fuss was. If he is hoping to get noticed for shock value alone (ala Madonna) then it will probably work, but once people get over that, then the skating has to stand by itself, good or bad. Me, I'm neutral, nothing impressed me, just rather blah.

I also checked out Amodio's "Michael Jackson" routine and saw nothing wrong with it nor inappropriate; looked like he was having a great time dancing and really getting into the music. I remember him from last year and also at the Olympics; this tiny guy with the brightly colored costume really stood out on the ice (I think I took a picture of him :) ). He's unusual, as most of the French are, and a pretty good all-around skater. I look forward to seeing this youngster develop over the years.

Lol, I'll have to watch them both again, as I only watched them once. But I honestly didn't see anything inappropriate with Amodio's, whereas Javier looked like he was having an orgasm, lol.

Will return with my thoughts in 10 or so minutes. :)

Okay, just got through watching both Amodio's SP & LP on youtube, and since it is his LP that is getting attention, I focused on that one (btw the other link I watched must've been an exhibition): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dllxBNjTzwk&feature=related

I still can find nothing wrong, the only two parts where his gloved white hand comes close to his crotch area is at 3:03 (though I couldn't see it because his back was turned to me) and at 4:23 (ala Michael Jackson). Whereas Javier's hand completely covers his crotch, which has nothing to do with the music (unlike Amodio's Michael Jackson interpretation), and at the same time he undulates his buttocks in a circular motion, lol, while having this pained expression on his face. ;)

I can't believe I'm talking about this. ROTFLMAO!

Anyhow, it's the judges opinions that count, not mine, they'll deduct from either one's program as they see fit. It's out of my hands. :D

Well, the distinction between crotch-grabbing and crotch-touching is not always clear on poor quality YouTube videos. As you say, it remains to be seen what the judges will do, though I rather doubt that whether such movements reflect the music or not will sway their opinions.

I didnt want to see programs at first for surprise but then was curious as a cat so...lets see, Brian and Amodio exchanged costumes and programs this season, so Morozov managed something that none else had managed before, to make Jouby my top euro man this season by putting Amodio in a net seethrough shirt skating to a bad cut music and in addition to that by completely destroying my image of little cute pirate Javi. What can I say, I give Morozv some pros, who else could do this strike, 3 in 1?:disagree:

I agree with the whole post.
Morozov has certainly dropped a level in his already questionable taste.

Oh dear. I still haven't watched Javier's. I think I'll just take everybody's word for it. Thanks for the warning, guys! He'll be my fridgebreak for the season.
