I quite agree with
Pogue's point...The fact that Javier's transgression comes at the opening of the program is like some sort of fanfare..sort of a bottom-feeder version of a grand entrance, or something..It's hard to erase it from your mind for the rest of the program.
But honestly, Amodio's antics are hardly less offensive..particularly the two-hander with the thrust.:disapp:
Overall, I don't like the programs, anyway. They just go for the easy
gimme , without much thought going into how the music is put together or musical interpretation. What the heck is going on in the second part of Javier's program ?..Oh, people liked him staggering about as a drunken pirate ? OK,.. let's find another reason for him to be staggering about...If the footwork looks sloppy , it's all part of the act..( BTW, did I notice him hooking up with two girls/boys in there ?..stupid for Patrick , stupid for Javier ). I think people liked Javier for his abilities , not his program, last year.
If they liked the program

I think it was
because of Javier, not the reverse. Would it have been as well received if it had been performed by a less capable skater ? I don't think so.
As for Florent , is it because they were wanting a more "mature" look for him this year, that he's all decked out in rough trade gear for his SP ? There's not much else of MJ
except the crotch grab in his LP. And once again, it's falling back on the most juvenile, obvious, unimaginative use of the music to have the skater trying to copy MJ's movements, in the first place.:sheesh:...
That's my rant.
