2014-2015 GPF Mens Short Program 12/12

What's this talk about Machida being underscored? He is so over the stop it borders on cheesy. I just can't stand watching him emote his way through his programs. I've always like subtle emotion and movements on programs. For example I can never imagine ever liking Parisians Walkways if it was performed by Takahashi because it would probably be filled with lots of hip shaking and lascivious moves. If only Kozuka was as good as a quad jumper as Machida then Hanyu could have a proper home rival. I am glad though that Machida is retiring soon and someone like Shoma Uno would replace him.

I think he was underscored a little (but Yuzuru still deserves to lead), but ITA about him being over the top. It's probably one of the reasons why I could never warm up to his skating. I too prefer Kozuka but he's just so inconsistent and he's already way past his peak  I will wait for the day Shoma podiums at nationals because I'll be the happiest person alive

Tbh I don't think Yuzuru was overscored. Maybe Machida was a little underscored but I don't see how Yuzuru was overscored. His performance (aside from the fall) was pretty spectacular.

Delurking *hi everbody!*

In an odd way, Machida often reminds me of a samurai movie with his emoting, haha.

That said, I loved this SP of his. It was possibly my overall favorite, even ahead of Hanyu's. I guess I enjoy Machida's brand of over-the-top emoting.

^ I think Machida used to have an EX with a kimono and a samurai sword and a samurai braid hairdo , totally samurai:laugh:

 no I'm not... So what did I say to make others think so?

My first exposure to Machida was his Olympics Firebird, and I totally got the samurai vibe. I'm so not surprised to learn he would perform as one, lol.

Hi guys! I'm not much of a commenter but I'll be sure to join in every now and then!

I wish some Machida fans can find that ex for you, it was funny and great.

I feel the same. Although I do love the drama.

I wanted so much to say something, but I feel as if I lost my words. I am sad for Javi as I know how amazing he can be. I am sad for Voronov, and how badly he was treated. I wonder why am I still watching figure skating. All artistic sports have judge problems, and not only artistic, football is notorious. But Figure skating is may be the worst. Who are the people who make the rules? Are they really knowledgeable? I doubt. How could a perfect Flip loose more points than a butchered combination is beyond my comprehension. I am really sorry for Hanyu, as skaters are not guilty for the scores they get. In dance, how could C/B have two 10s with a fall?
I think robots have to be trained to judge. Humans are flawed animals....LOL

I was so delighted at Hanyu's performance. It was really beautiful. I agree with the head scratching about Vornov's scores though. What are these judges smoking? Machida could have been scored higher on his program as well.
However, there is tomorrow, and much more drama to come. YAY!
Javi, you CAN DO IT! Get on that podium!!

Wow that Samurai program posing with a sword is all sort of weird, Elena from outerspace I will always love you in tin foil hat darth cape weird. Perhaps the two should do duet gala program together just to see what happens. Ice melt. Volcano erupts. Storm and lightning. Sun Eclipse. Electric fireworks. Brain melts. Tears in eyes.

I wonder if any of the judges felt a little guilty after hearing the "boos" from the crowd when Sergei's score was announced...or are they really as cold and heartless as they seem?

Why exactly do the men get <24 hours to recover/prepare for the free but the ladies get almost 48 hours? You'd think the men with their quads would need more rest. I feel like every time this happens the men have a splat-fest.
