2014 Cup of China Mens Short Program 11/07

I love Yuzuru ... and my dream is to see him skate clean this year, both in SP and LP (in the same competition). At least once :-(

Beautiful 3A; need to watch it again; but the SS was good; and the choreo with the music brings it out (i.e. it highlights the transitions); it can still get better though: the one in the shows was better too

Tomorrow would be exciting. The podium could still very well be changed.

However I'm a bit miffed at Han Yan's score. I love the guy but Ricky Dornbush did better...? Homecourt advantage?

I have a feeling that I will love him in about 3-4 years though. I guess I like mature skaters a bit more?

I like the youthful skaters who break the rules and are doing things their own way myself at this point but the good thing about FS is there is something for everyone. :hb:

Poor Hanyu.... But still enjoyed his skating. Hope he wins this tomorrow

Yuzuru actually looked relieved in the K&C. I guess he expected even worse.

But there must be something very wrong with the China GP when so many skaters again do not reach the top of their game there.

I am very biased, because I absolutely love this Chopin ballad (no guesses as to what I'll be playing on the piano today), but I thought Yuzuru's SP was mesmerizing. It should be a sight to be hold if/when he skates better further on in the season.

Last year I remember one of the commentators (Johnny?) talking about how the polluted air in China can affect skaters...could that be a factor?

I still enjoyed the program despite the popped jumps... He is still ahead of the field in terms of skills etc

I am somewhat more calm before LP now, because he will be attacking in LP and it's better possibility for clean program from him

Me three. But this is the first program from him that I really like, though unfortunately the jumps failed him today.

This was definitely a change from edgy Parisienne Walkways from last season, which screamed SPUNK (but again, it just wasn't just quite there yet for me).

It might be my bias showing though, but Mao skated this before, and Mao immortalised this piece for me. But knowing Yuzu, he's going to the free with such determination and do very well.

The top Ladies did very well here so far. In which GP do many skaters reach the top of their games, especially those earlier in the season?

That was a generous score for Hanyu, considering all the errors but then again Kovtun was overscored on PCS too, so I guess it evens out. :ohwell:
I hope Hanyu does much better tomorrow, not exactly a fan but considering what the alternative is...
