2014 Cup of China Mens Short Program 11/07

No, some are complaining that Yuzuru got overscored there. So, I was saying that if Kovtun get 41 then 44 for Yuzuru are well deserved, and even too close.

Haha)) I actually thought some people were complaining Yuzuru's PCS were too low  And I agree the differents between them should be bigger.

He couldn't add the combo after the 3T which was supposed to be a 4T. At least he "saved" the lutz.

He could have added a 2T if the landing of the lutz were better (he landed on his inside edge). Unfortunately that resulted in a COMBO deduction and -3's across the board. I'm guessing he was thinking about how to deal with the lutz combo after tripling the quad and he was thinking about not negating the entire combo. I doubt he triples his quad and then executes a deliberate 3Z-2T very often in practice.

Right. When guys can't bring it like the girls, it must not be their fault.

Have you been to big cities in China? Except for the last 4 skaters, the ladies's SP was a spatfest too. I'm not a fan of any male skaters here. I'm just trying to understand what happens at COC too. If it's a splatfest 2 years in a row, there may be something wrong beyond the skaters' control and it's nothing more than my own assumption. No skater made any excuse here. Take the chill pill.

A quote from Hanyu's post-SP interview.
"It's very regrettable. I'm surprised I'm in second place with the what I did today."
-Hanyu isn't hesitant to say when he's been over scored.

Respect.

Too bad more skaters aren't as honest as that. It would make for much more interesting press conferences.

What's wrong with someone here? The men's singles have been a mess at SA and SC except two Japanese men. Why did none blame the host for the skaters' mistakes. Hidden Agenda much? And low tier skaters brought their best in China. Why are they magically immune to whatever people are claiming here?

His quote does not necessarily means he thinks he's over scored. (Maybe he is surprised how much more the air and ice conditions affected the other Men. :p) Was he surprised that he won the Olympics?

Let's hope the Men recover and show their goods tomorrow.

I don't normally root for Hanyu because he's usually going against my favs but I'm hope he skates his best and make it a sweep for Japan.

I don't know what's going on because there was no way I was staying up watching this on a work night. I guess Hanyu's best would be wayyy better than the rest of this field. If only he was clean he would be in the nineties.

Yes, he said so.

:bang: As a fan of him for a long time, I am 99% sure he means he is over scored. Of course, you can interpret his quote to the 1 negative % if you want.

Reminds me of when he was so shocked at his hugely inflated LP scores at nationals. His faced in the K&C practically said "*** is that?" and just laughed at it. It was pretty funny ;) He has always been straight forward about how he feels he should be scored and its nice to see him retaining that even though he's now the OGM/WC.

Is he still not recover from his back injury? He looked sickly today and he did not do his usual cross axis ritual before the start.

Let's say it, he is very lucky to be second with a good chance to win. I also think the judges were a bit generous, however, the rest of the program was very beautiful. Let's pray he won't mess it up tomottow.

Hanyu has a consistent 3A (which he can do from standstill), if only he stick to last season layout 4T first then 3A in second half....instead he's doing this crazy thing of 3A first and 4T in second half. And his LP with 3 quads :bang:

I have no way of knowing exactly what Hanyu thinks about his scores. I believe he is often genuinely and humbly surprised. People are often surprised at their success or sometimes at others' under performances. We have seen ecstatic incredulous medalists, which does not always means they think they are over scored.

What I do believe though is that Hanyu has a high standard and expectation for himself, thus the surprises at better competition results and/or scores than he has accorded himself after his performances. I thinks he respects the judges. I guess my point is that placements are relative and are not usually due to over and underscoring as many fans assert and assume skaters feel the same.

I think overall placement is somewhat good. I mean if Hanyu PCS should go lower then Kovtun also. Han Yan PCS I think is good as it is. But clearly Hanyu program besides jumps as a whole piece is the best in this competition.
