I don't understand all the criticism about Satoko's jumps being tiny. They are excellent. She is tiny so why is she supposed to jump as high as the bigger girls? They are high enough for her to finish her rotations and that's what matters.

A skater can be small and still jump high. It's because she prerotates everything, thats why the jumps are small and they snap fast.

I can only speak for myself, but her lightening fast tiny jumps make her skating seem more monotonous to me compared to the other ladies. They have almost no impact on the program sometimes I miss them altogether. My favorite figure skating programs have powerful jumps that are well timed and add to the performance and choreography. Satoko's lovely skating will never have that.

My issue is not the size, but that she prerotates them so much... The judges should definitely ding her for URs.

Its very harsh looking, makes her look older then she is and worse it kind of accentuates that "***** please" expression her face has :disagree:

I agree, and I love Ash. I know she and Gracie (most of the American ladies, it seems) like the high glamour aesthetic, but you have to be really careful or it can look harsh.

People who think Satoko's jumps are remotely rotated need to watch the jumpamatrons.

Speaking of which, someone should email the jumpamatrons to the judges...

They are all pre-rotated, and they all should be > by default regardless of the landing.

One day a technical specialist will get this right.
