Congrats to B/S on their medal!:agree:

Soooooooooooo any prediction for worlds???
Can they be in the Top 6-5???

I think the scores of the top two here, B/S and S/K, are encouraging when it comes to that "getting 3 spots back" project. B/S look like they can get 6th for sure. Top five, perhaps. It all depends on the tech panel. Different tech panel, different performance, different outcome. C/L are strong, they'll work hard to get better for Worlds. C/B and Shibs skate at home. SinKats are absolutely capable of 7th. It won't be easy, but it's doable. Prospects look better now than at the beginning of the season IMO.

Yes for sure it is in their power to get top 6, maybe top 5 with amazing skates. I think they can only get higher, though, if others make mistakes.

Can they be in the Top 6?

They can be top 6. That is where they are currently. It may depend a lot on Hubbell & Donahue, who still have to prove themselves against G&P at 4CC's. H&D made mistakes in the free against B&S in both matchups (the first time only a rough lift dismount) and both times B&S and H&D split dances. But Anna Karenina is getting the job done for B&S in the FD. Glad to see them skate it so well at Europeans.

Can Russia finish 6&7? Going to be very tough. Doable. Possibly even the most likely scenario. But Hubbell & Donahue and possibly Gilles & Poirier will have something to say about it.

Top five will be VERY tough. B&S have lost three times to the Shibs this season. (The Shibs aren't going down, IMO). And C&L didn't go down at Europeans even with a lift deduction and several losses of levels. That leaves last year's podium. Would B&S like to take on Chock & Bates? I'm fairly certain the Shibs & Weaver & Poje would not mind if they did.

So, no one who does 4CC could push Bobrova/Soloviev out of top 10 in World Rankings, right? If so, they are going to skate in second to last warm-up group. Top 6 is highly possible then, top 5 is possible only if they will end up in top 5 after SD and skate in last group in FD, IMO. Still possible.

So, I have to say, as a SinKats fan: BobSol are kinda a godsend for them this season IMO. They are just finding their feet together as a team and it's obvious that they're still vulnerable and insecure. I feel that had they been burdened with having to be Russian number one and the expectations that come with it, it might have severely endangered the progress they're making and the positive development of this season. But B/S are there, and so they're somewhat "protected". This became super clear at Euros IMO. I was so scared that they would have to skate after the French and their massive score and that a meltdown would follow, but they held it together. Flailing twizzles, yeah, but otherwise a good skate and a good, competitive score. I think it really, really helps them at this point in time that they know there's someone else who will pick up the slack and that not everything is dependent on them.

I think that might have been a factor that contributed to I/Z's problems. They were pushed so hard as Russian number one last season, and perhaps it was too much that early on.

Which ranking list is used? World Standings over three years? World Standings for this year? Or Season's Best?

Either way, I don't see how B&S could be out of the top ten. They are lowest on the World Standings for three years list, but the likely top five teams at 4CC's are already ahead of them on that list so will not move B&S down.

Afair, it's world rankings for three years. Our it is just for Euros?

Can anyone confirm?

It`s the world ranking over three years that is used. The next team who is behind them on the list and will be at 4cc is Kim/Minov, but they are over 900 points behind them, so B/S`s place in the penultimate group at Worlds is safe.

Thank you. And that's a very good news :)

^ great pair & programm:luv17: (& a pretty boy:laugh:)

Vika posted on FB some hip hop vids w/teenage gals dancing to Missy!
Now I cant help but imagine SinKats dancing to Missy as well:laugh: could be hilar b/c they have this lyrical/romantic Zoueva style so it's even more intersting/unusual to see them in smth completely different!

I think Zoueva had the right idea with the blues FD last year, that this is something that suits them stylistically. The problem was that they were still falling all over each other and trying to learn to skate together. But IMO it started singing at Nats, they still looked rough, but they started to look like a unit and like things started clicking and that performance had great chemistry and drive! This season's romantic FD is more straightforward so they can show off how much they've improved to the judges, but even there you have a bit of dramz and tension in the music and choreo. So I do think she understands that they're not solely "twinkle, twinkle" skaters. Same with the SD, it's light and airy, but she chose sharper, driving pieces. So you have something for Vika's more gentle style, and something for Nikita's command and authority. Nicky Slater really nailed it in his comments at Euros about their Swan Lake.

IMO that's quite an achievement from Zoueva: Packaging a new pair and recognizing what their identity as individuals and together should be. Particularly with SinKats, where arguably you have a bit of a contrast in styles: She's introverted (okay, sometimes she just simply has trouble performing, though it's now much better) and soft, he's extroverted and has an intense edge. She made it fit together! Their contrasts are used in complementary ways to create chemistry. And they look like a unit and not discordant at all. Sure, the programs so far are "back to basics", but the foundation is laid and I'm hopeful that she'll know how to proceed now.

As for Hip Hop next year, my first instinct is to scream at all pairs to stay away. But perhaps if you find a song that suits the blues part and isn't too aggressive?

Hip hop worked fairly well for the juniors except there were perhaps a few too many Róisin Murphy programs. I am hoping there will be some fun choreo!

Good news for IZ fans Speculation of a change came true

TRaining with Igor for 3 months

I just smell another media hook of not only SKIZ ribalry but Igor/Marina one :laugh2: lucky media!
Luckily for S/K and I/Z, they will both be mostly away from the Russian media and in the US no one cares. I honestly believe the poisonous atmosphere the media (mostly the tabloids) create must have a negative impact on the athletes. The pressure from the fed is bad enough and IMO they often aren't very constructive in the way they deal with their athletes, and then add in all the nonsense that gets constantly written in the press. Gah.

I think this move to Detroit could give I/Z some needed peace of all that gossip. I get why the media loves to write about all that SKIZ drama, it`s a good story, but it`s getting really tiresome, when the same stories are brought back over and over again.

It is true what everyone is saying there seems to be ice dancing machines and few of them that produce the dance teams or top ones. Zueva, Shipland, Dubreil and Lauzon come to mind. It will be interesting. I think it is good that Lambiel, Buttle, Bourne et al are now choreographing routines thojgh we need more in dance to up the diversity. Nichol, Wilson, Bezic for sure are all getting a little tired.
