2015 Cup of China Ladies Short Program

Ahh, only 4 skaters broke 60. Quite an unfortunate skate for some (Lena, Anna, Soyoun) but overall it was okay. Who knows, maybe this leads to Boyang landing 2 quads in the men's SP, hahaha.

Mao has a few technicalities to sort out, but what a wonderful skate! I think the judges were fair with the TES, but I feel like the PCS was a bit too small for her. However, it's still long before Worlds and I hope she can rack up the points she deserves in between. :)

Rika was very nice, her posture and lines bother me but it's good to see her with a program that works. (Thank you, Akiko!) My stream skipped over Courtney completely, but it seems she did well to break her PB. Good for her! :) I'll try to watch it if I still have time during the weekend.

Anna's fall was quite jarring, I hope she can sort out her issues in the Free. She's a beautiful skater IMO, and for some reason I adore her skating so I hope she pushes past this. Elena struggled quite a bit, but she's got just as much grit as Liza so I'm betting on her to fight back in the Free. She was sick quite some time ago, yes?

Also, I'm quite lucky to be near China's timezone, don't have to wake up so early just to watch. Hope everyone here whose on the other side of the world gets some nice rest!

On a closer look at Mao's SP besides her 3A which was round and it showed clear on the slow motion (the landing was not ideal but it was rotated), all her jumps looked a bit short. 3F was borderline (I would give her that), 3Loop was not and 3lz, while her edge is improved (I am not sure whether a "!" is sufficient or not), it looked short on rotation

I see the judges gave her the 3A and 3F, dinged the 3Loop and gave an "e" on the 3Lz but was not called. To me, that 3Luz looked more like a 3Lz< ! so I guess her TES score is more or less accurate.

Whenever someone asks for a score I posted two pages back, I can't help but wonder if they've blocked me for some reason :dbana:

I don't think anyone would have blocked you. but the thread is moving soooo fast! Everytime I think I caught up, there's suddenly a new page popping up

Oh, and of course thank you again for posting the results here again so fast :thank:

Anna P should get positive GOE for her falls! They are spectacular and she fully commits:points:

Elena had my favorite program (music, outfit, expression, elements)
I hated it so much @ test skates & was sure when she is competition ready I gonna love it & it predictably happened:laugh:
Tho I still hate both music choices with a passion:dev3:

Mao should not be doing the 3Lz in the SP. She, herself, is killing her score. Either 3A, 3F-3T, 3Loop (even with a UR on the 3T) or 3A, 3F-3L and a 3S (which is so stable for her recently)

Exactly. But for me, that 3lz was still a flutz. It wasn't as clean as some she did in practice.

A little confused with the -2s and -3s from some of the judges on Mao's lutz...aside from the edge, it was a gorgeous jump with great flow & height (not sure if the e was even deserved, could have called it as ! IMO...although I didn't watch the slow mo).

So sad for both Anna and Elena :sad21: hope they pull it together in the free! Come on, ladies!

This is yet another one of those posts that to an outsider of the figure skating community might look like coordinates for an army bombing mission or something like that.

I follow ya though :cool2:

Agreed, on a tighter judging panel her Lz would prob be called. 3F i would say it's alright! though a cleaner 3F is ideal!

And I guess Mao would like to keep doing Lz in compeititons, so to get used to the judging and hopefully change it to a ! and then clean edge one!

Element of the night award for me goes to Mao Asada's Step sequence.

Get me both judges who only gave her +2, I want a word

I loved Mao's performance: smooth and lyrical with beautiful spins and a scintillating step sequence. Most of all I am glad she was so satisfied and joyous about her performance. She put her heart and soul in it. I also liked Rika's energy and attack. I think Mao's PCS scores are too low. Mao's jumps in real time also looked better to me than the deductions indicated. I can see that Mao had a couple of tech issues, but 7 points in tech deductions and deflated PCS for Mao's level of skating skills, musicality, interpretation, choreography and seamless transitions is too much.

scooring looks fine to me. mao score also ok. she should go for another jump than lutz in the sp. "e" means lower value AND minus GOE.
