2015 Russian Nationals Free Dance

I'm unlurking because I have to know where your dedication comes from. Are you being paid by the word to make this posts? Did you lose a bet? Did Katsalapov run over your dog?

To be fair to gmyers, he was literally the only one saying that Ilinykh/Katsalapov had no future and should/will break up back in 2012 and 2013, and he turned out to be right ;)

Does anyone else feel that Z/G were really underscored here? They were really cool. eroz, you are wasting your time. Trust me on this one. Just walk away.

I do. I enjoyed their skate. Tiffany reminds me of Annisina. Very expressive team!

This team had a goal to be world champions their first season. They are not even getting out of nationals. What's the point of them now? To be a b event team that's sent to nebelhorn and Finlandia? Hope for a host pick of Russia cup sometimes? The rationale is non existent. I/z might medal at worlds. That's supposed to be s/k.

Me likey them very much. Russian ID just got exceptionally deep. Loving it.

As for my gmyers, got's to say I do admire your commitment to a cause. Rock on !

Just btw, I found this information on Zahorski/Guerreiro fans' facebook :)

Russian National 2015 Short Dance Result
1 Elena Ilinykh / Ruslan Zhiganshin
TSS 70.35 TES 34.20 PCS 36.15
2 Alexander Stepanov / Ivan Bukin
TSS 66.37 TES 32.62 PCS 33.75
That's really a new generation!

Uh yeah - and then they won Olympic bronze and team Gold in 2014. Nice prediction, gmyers.

I/K also bombed multiple competitions and gave a world title away...the only senior event I/K ever won was the Crystal Skate of Romania (!!). I/K never even won a GP, which is mind-blowing given their talent.

And now I/Z have won a National title in their first year together :)

You know, I will never get the Russian FED. Why did this official have to make such a belittling statement after watching teams work so hard?

"Do you know what the main difference between the current championship of Russia from those that were in my time? - Ironically asked in Sochi Olympic champion Gennady Karponossov . - The fact that before the whole country knew the duo that won the national championship, will compete for gold and the European Championship and the World Cup. Now all we need only for those who will be able to qualify for the national team, and go to the European championship, and who falls overboard. "

This is why I think it is so important for teams like Ruslena etc, to have supportive fans. It is VERY HARD ROAD to be a Russian figure skater. Wow.

On a brighter note, I'm just happy for Ruslena, me thinks he's just one messed up bitter old man, regardless of his previous achievements. Ugh!!!

S/K has my favorite FD this season. I'm a little ashamed to admit that.

There is no shame in saying that. It's really a good move in a different direction, the guys just weren't ready to do it justice. Looks like they are into more edgy sort of material atm.

Congrats to the medalists and especially Ruslena for all they have accomplished in such a short time!

There really is no shame in saying that. Degustibus. But which direction is that? I fail to see.

Not the first time this season he has dissed Russian skaters. Some people just like making headlines.

I think Z/G were underscored because Tiff hasn't got her release from France so can't skate internationally for Russia. It was lovely seeing her on the ice again, but I think it's a bit of a dangerous game - now Didier can see how good her new team looks, he will try even harder to hold on to her & not risk losing a skater that could challenge his teams.

But who could she possibly skate with in France? Joubert? That man is just NUTS!!

OTOH, maybe the judges then were throwing shade to do her a favour? Man this sport can get complicated in a jiffy.
