...so, does judging by how the ladies have been going, does this mean we're going to get a great mens' competition?

That's what I'm hoping for, based on the pattern thus far...sucky ice dance/pretty good pairs/meh ladies/very good men?

But we are still early, the ladies are bound to get better, I'm sure. Starting w/Angelina, I hope.

Wait, is this usual in a competition for people to fall and score in the 40s, or is it just this competition? I've never watched a whole competition live.

Nope. Everyone had to score around 27-28 in TES at minimum to even qualify for Worlds in the first place! So people are just skating VERY badly.

Well, it does take two to tango.

that is the saying, but it's not perfectly accurate: Argentinian tango started off as a solitary dance. With skill, it can be perform solo and be a beautiful thing to watch. Kiira did it in... ugh, don't remember the year, 2011 maybe? It was a short program.
