2015 Worlds Ladies Short Program March 26

Solid skate, Rika! I can see more improvements. So happy to see Akiko influence the next generation!

Hongo's improved a lot artistically (especially posture-wise) with some work with Akiko Suzuki. Hope she continues to improve!

I love how she always lands that axel right on the beat.

Hehe yeah I agree, she has improved ALOT from earlier in the season. It is the Akiko factor! Welldone!

With her long limbs, Rika has the potential to present such a striking image on the ice. But that posture and those shoulders are SO distracting, sigh.

She reminds me of Kovtun when she bends before the jump. :slink:

EDIT: But I actually enjoy her a lot more than I would ever enjoy Kovtun.

加油 means to add oil. In China you often chant that at athlete's telling them to push a bit harder! They're words of encouragement.

oh so they are not out of gas and asking for money? so they can put some gas in their car?

Don't worry -- from FSU, I've seen several recent videos (fluff pieces) from Japanese TV stations where Akiko Suzuki (same coach as Hongo) has been working with Hongo and has directed a huge amount of attention on those hunched shoulders and posture. She doesn't seem to be afraid to tell it to Hongo straight up on camera, so I'm hopeful!

Nailed it!!! :cheer:

What I love about her is that she completes everything. Her spins have more than the necessary revolutions in each position (e.g. 4 illusions)... she will get all her levels that way.

Rika looked nervous before she took to the ice, but she delivered anyway. I think that's the best I've seen her skate that program, artistically (technically, I've seen her do better 3T-3Ts). She's really improved the posture.
