2015 Worlds Men Short Program March 27

..watching some performances again. The ice is so freaking hard. The men sound like they're trying to skate on rock.

Is not that the ice is hard is just that they placed the microphone too close to the ice so when skaters skate near that end of the rink you hear the ice crunching but, you won't hear it anywhere else.

Thanks for the shout out for Ronald McD House. It's a great charity.

I'd still throw gift cards. I'm sure any charity of the skater's choice would accept a Visa gift card. Of course, the skater could choose to keep it for themselves, and I'd be cool with that.

Javi's excellent combo received the same GOE as Hanyu's so and so 3-3. Even among the frontrunners the judges love to play favorite.

Yuzu has a strong lutz, when he doesn't slip. His take off is more Yuna-esque, i.e. more proper. Yuzu takes off into the air as soon as he plants his toe. Javi's lutz spends a little more time on the ice and gets some more pre-rotation. I think Javi's was cleaner but lacked the qualities that gain GOE. Yuzu's was a little scratchier, but had more positive GOE points like height, distance, and his lutz take off is more pure.

He was really trying to avoid all the small children on the ice. Wasn't easy to do. Those children were exhausted and falling all over the place carrying Hanyu's toys, which I thought was a bit over the top. It does not seem quite fair for the skater after him, though I don't know what can be done about that. Hanyu is the only situation I would call "out of control" this Worlds.

Like the toys that were thrown on ice for Jason Brown (which was pre-announced for fans to throw the toys for Ronald McDonald USA). I wonder whether it does not seem fair for the skater after Jason then

There are also others, some who are at the arena I think, that have reported the ice being very hard as well. It might be a microphone problem too. :P Just trying to find a reason why all the men were basically a splatfest.

I'm just trying to figure out the logistics of throwing a gift card. maybe taping it in a paper airplane could be fun.

I am bit sick after the judges' decision in both Ice Dance and Men SP. The most over scored guy was Denis Ten. I know he is not guilty for the marks he gets. Still I wouldn't like him to win, as I think he got to many undeserved points in the SP. I also consider Javier the best in this SP, even I can understand some numbers, but Yuzuru got too generous GOEEEEE. Again, he is NOT guilty for that. So the judges do a double fault, hurting both the skater and his competitors.
After so much disappointment, I'll go off topic. I am Canadian, but with a strong European background. I had no idea up to this day, that the "land of the rising sun" is similar to swastika. Japan is always perceived as the land of the rising sun, at least in Europe, as even geographically, Japan is at the furtherest Eastern point, where from (poetically) sun rise come from. I also know swastikas were used long time before WWII, so I hate the Nazzis in WWII had ruined this Asian (Buddhist) symbol. It's a pity the world is still full of hate. It's hidden in our own soul:mad:

The men being crappy for the most part gives the US guys a chance to pull up for 3 spots. Dare I say Jason could even medal? I know it's not likely with no quad, but D10 is D10 and barely ahead right now and Voronov is rough around the edges and has that tacky FS. So who knows.

Wish Shoma Uno could have been here. He could have a shot at medaling given what we saw today!

Voronov's program is not what I call North American proper and thats what Judges love and what ten hanyu Fernandez brown get

That's top 4 with brown probably medaling

Just catching up. Takahiko and Mura are so down :(... And poor Kovtun.

Good programs by Yuzu and Javier, and happy this two are together again.

Funny, I don´t think I have ever seem so many Winnie Poohs ever. Happy to see Borser being adorable with all his skaters.

Too bad about Joshua Farris, and Rippon.

And great for Amodio, Misha G and Nam Nguyen.

My 2 cents...in the past year, I have insisted Hanyu's PCS have been inflated but I feel he has improved so much in his posture, skating skills, refinement, etc, he is becoming a wole skater, and deserves to be 1st here, even with the fall.

Pretty sure his fan meant the fisherman's flag ...figure skating fans are not like the keg-drinking bawling hooligan soccer fans!

I really think the toys have to be replaced by a more ecological charitable gesture, gift cards are good, but possibly donation cards for the skater's favorite charity?

So psyched for FS tomorrow!

And LOVE Jason and Hanee!

It happens. I know it happened to Max Aaron the year he won nationals (I think with him they may have played his other program's music). ...

Yes. And in the post-SP interview, Belbin asked Max about the music glitch. He said that his music had been played properly at Nats practices, so he didn't know how the mix-up happened in competition.

About Russians, I don't remember what happened. Menshov was very good last year. Why didn't he qualify? I like Kotvun but his mind is still slightly childish. He is 19 in the end. He needs a good psychologist.

The difference between 10th and 19th is just 6 points...and about 9 points between 10th and 3rd. There can and will be a lot of shake up in the standings.

Javi has a 7 point lead on the rest of the field and Hanyu 10 points, so not a huge buffer there either.

Yes, there obviously could be a lot of movement up and down, and usually is with the unevenness of performances these days and the way the sport is scored. Still, I'm willing to bet the top three will likely remain the same and in the same order, unless Denis is perfect and Javi and Yuzu have more than 3 major mistakes. Han being in his home country could also slip in there if he skates lights out and the others falter. Not a given though. Jason could move up a spot or not, so he needs to skate perfectly too.

Even staying on his feet and going for the quad does not seem to work for Adam. Anyone else gets huge props for simply going for it and making the rotations, or falling, or stumbling out. Adam's quad attempt here was better than at Nationals. After seeing how high Adam's tech score was, I think it is really dumping on him and his fans how far his score was dropped. It is really dumping on a guy going out there and giving his all. Again, Adam and some others get little respect, and are looked at with fine tooth combs and not given enough credit for their artistry, while others have huge margin for error. Even Josh did not skate horrible after the unexpected fall, but they made him pay for it so dearly.

Could be, but it wont be as much fun to watch a receive form the donation being toss to the ice as watching Winnie Pooh flying... :P

Or a big old bag of candy.

Remember Gracie mugging with that bag of Reece's? LOL

Okay. Finally watch Kovtun`s sp and I feel bad for the guy now. Maybe he needs to go to Mishin or something to help with his technique and confidence.
