After watching Wakaba Higuchi's new SP, I think I just start to like her (I was neutral before). She does not have long, lean lines but her sp proved that you don't have to be that way to convey something sensitive and beautiful. She seems to be a genuine performer who skates with her heart. Hope she can improve her flexibility and extension in spins.

If this is the program you watched, it's not her SP.

Really? Then what is her new SP? Cannot think of anything better than this one.
Omg I agree I was quote disappointed that it wasn't her sp, as it was so lovely. But it's just an ex. But hopefully ShaeLynn has done greatness to this new sp which apparently will be showed or skated on the 26th of August according to Wakaba herself.

Interestingly, none of the current lot have broken Mao's 2014 SP record, which she accomplished with virtually the same content. As the season progresses she may well upgrade the combo to 3F+3Lo and replace the solo triple loop by the triple lutz. If she completes such a program cleanly she will easily break 80, which would be huge

The problem is her 3F+3Lo almost never receives credit and getting a random underrotation call on her 3Axel also results in a drastically reduced score. Would be so much smarter to train 3Flip+3Toe, not only in the SP but also the LP, to give herself a cushion and further position herself as the dominant favorite. She can already break 80 in the SP with that layout and she is already technically way ahead of everyone with 3Flip+3Toe combo in each program. She doesn't need the 3Flip+3Loop, it's just an unnecessary risk, particularly because of the issues with her Lutz if she tries it in the SP. Her PCS end up getting hurt because all the tech panel calls knock down her score and make her look less competitive, so then the judges don't take her as seriously. Plus her own confidence being hurt from getting those lower scores time after time.

And maybe for Mao 3+3T combo just aren't as comfortable as 3+3Lo ones? Just because it's generally easier doesn't mean it's easy for every skater.

Besides, idiotic tech panels aside, I love Mao's stubbornness and the fact that she won't let stupid calls keep her from doing what she wants to do and achieve. And I'm tired of all the 3-3T's and the basically copy-and-paste layouts so many ladies have, let Mao do her thing, even if it won't be valued in the scores, I still love seeing it.

No, the soundtrack is, Byakuyakou Wo Iku, from Byakuyakou, a Japanese drama. Unless the movie uses that soundtrack too? Hmm.

No, the movie has different soundtrack. This one was especially composed for the drama (mini-series).

You say it.

SO. TRUE. Mao just do great 3+3Lo combos and obviously she is a loop jumper than a toe jumper. Many of her combo are with loops, like 3+2Lo+2Lo, which so far I have not seen any other skater does. I personally also like loop combos more because they look so smooth!

Beautiful Marin, she has artistry and jumps.
She's gorgeous: her skating is gorgeous, her look is gorgeous and her personality is gorgeous. There are disputes about her dress, imho she could be wearing paper bag and still look like a star!
Then she's got this kind of ease and nonchalance in her skating, that let you relax and marvel at her in peace, not caring about technical stuff too much. You just know: when it counts, Marin-san delivers. :agree2:

I like Mao's program. :agree:

So what is her planned layout? 3A 3F2Lo 3Lo? Maybe not a bad idea considering she has around 78 pts when clean for similar layout during 2014 WC. Even though I would prefer to see her do 3-3 and 3Lz with her 3A, it seems to be dragging her down last season with UR and edge call (and pops). Downside of this is she will really depend on her 3A to score high in the SP.
